Found one good clip of tube riding, I did expect he would made the hollowest one but not, that's hurt!
Wow! That takes courage in waves of that size! I have tried many times (in smaller waves) but am yet to be barreled... I am usually too far forward, or not low enough and I get smacked off... One day...
sick kami . great footage ...
and ouch .to his butt.....my arm is full of reef scares.they sting..like hell ...

Like me that's only things we have in common with those champions of the tube riding are the butt scares. Like CantSuPenough said we will make it one day
Reef wounds can be extremely dangerous. I recently had a small reef cut in Hawaii in October . Still hasn't healed fully and some pain. Have an ultrasound referral in case some of the "reef" is still embedded in my foot. I didn't realise how dangerous reef wounds could be but some recent reading has certainly educated me
Yes, even the few reef cuts it did happen to me need a maximum care like brushing, lemon or peroxyde then disinfected on those cuts .
But despite of those dangers , I'm designing the kind of weapon to charge deep wave over reef: 7'7" 27" 88 litres to my 80 kg body.
Note the bottom shape : single concave on nose coming into the vee double concave at tail with its max deep on the hips/wings, pretty hard to complete that kind of bottom shape /design .
i was wondering when we where going to get a new design ,,,
would a pointer tail be better or worse in the bowl.
or are the two points on the tail adequate.for a vertical steep face ?
reef cuts don't cut once ,the rip and tear .
Great Vid. Barrel riding on a SUP is a skill for sure.
We have a nice little reef break that I surf that throws out a really nice barrel section but I only make it out of less than quarter of the barrels on a SUP than what I would on a short board
I usually get clipped on the end section when I need to make that last quick pump to take the high line out of the tube but as the SUP is much slower to react I find I get pinched or am on the wrong line to make a clean exit.
Love watching guys surf some serious waves like this clip or Chopes, definitely another level
you got me Tardy, Tardy you win a video , I hope you understand my english but you can only watch it if you don't. I caught this timing to show off my last design what I'm cooking on my computer during those winter time here in Northern hemisphere.
About this tail , didn't think specially about tube riding those wings are more for carving and manoeuvre on the face, in fact i really work on the rail line because I usually find barrel on my backand so I need some good rail from the nose of the board which is quiet difficult to blend from a SUP thickness even with a zero flotation like this 88 liters for 80 kg.
Here a another sketch with a better adjusted rocker which might allow to hold high line like Slatz is dealing with while he is making the end section of is local reef break. SUP got thick rail it can be hard to stay high...
I put all my knowledge tweaking geometrics to blend the faster sweet spot till getting bite from the front rail to the front fin.
on him for having a go but he'd have made them pits on a shorty, sup in sup waves ride a shortboard when its critical
