Hi, in Hondarribia near San Sebastian airport you can rent supboards on HS2 Hondarribi SUP, in San Sebastian you can find a lot of schools like Pukas,Hawaii.. but I think that they rent surfboards, I do not know about SUPs, perhaps air Sups.

Fortunately the surf has been very average and winds onshore.....as hiring a decent board is a real challenge

That's a shame you couldn't hit the south shore. Must have been some action.

There were about 50+ guys out at this spot above. I wasn't feeling brave and strong enough to grab the gun and sit on the peak.
Coming in from the California the nite before had me feeling weak and wobbly. I opted for the performance longboard and inside to under the pack. It worked out well for wave count, but I took way more on the head than I caught.

This french trickster, Fred Compagnon was on a sup raceboard with a buddy and alaia wooden finless board. They waited outside for the 18'+ bombs. At the last moment his buddy dove in the water and he stroked into the monster, pitched the paddle and jumped off into the pit on the alaia. Quite impressive. Even more so his buddy who then swam to collect the board and paddle and head in after him. What an operation.

Not yet finding a video or pic, I found this vid of the two crews on the next peak to the north on a similar day.

Some (too edited) video of two day ago: (I think it is Mathieu Plessis on the SUP, a local charger). But no Fred Compagnon.

surfinJ, you should have come with me 500m away, waves were twice as small (at least), but I was alone... and without the need to avoid jet skis, raceboards, thrown paddles, on top of the 50+ guys circus :-)

Really nice vid Colas. I saw you off the end of the jetties at the harbor mouth and really puzzled over which spot to hit.
Glad to hear you scored a nice session.

The video was shot after Fred left the water. And that Mathieu was charging on a little 8-10 JP pro. I asked him why not a little more length and he told me his gun as broken.
