Happy New years all. On New Years eve morning i was fortunate enough to be able to take my 73 yo father for his first paddle in beautifully calm early morning conditions only to have the morning spoilt by some greedy little individual who thought they had more rights to my gear than I did and took it upon themselves to smash the front passenger side window on the SUP Truck and steal a bag.

I just thought it would serve as a good reminder to everyone to never be complacent about keeping your stuff completely out of sight. I've got a funny feeling that we were being watched from the time we pulled up as the bag that was stolen was hidden well up under the dash in the footwell and the window tint is dark enough that if you were just walking past and looking in you wouldn't have been able to see it and the bag was also black making it difficult to see.

This happened on Endeavour Rd, La Perouse between 5:30 and 7:00am, so anyone that frequents this area please be aware and don't become complacent because it could happen to anyone.

Yeah too right, nothing gets my goat more than low life thieves that think they're entitled to something that I've worked hard for. Karma Police i'll get em I hope. On the up side it was great getting the old man out for a paddle, been a while since we've done anything like that.

That does suck ya dad looked great just got my Dad out and Mum both mid 60's they loved it, makes ya think when your stashing your key who's watching I have been putting window shade up even if it's not sunny and I recon i'll take the key with me next time!

I never stash my keys anymore, Paqua make a waterproof key pouch which is small enough to fit in the pocket of my boardies and I clip it around the little elastic string inside the pocket so even if the pocket comes open it doesn't fall out, only way i'm losing it is if I get completely dacked in a clean up set.

Which is one of the main reasons for wearing a leash...

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Yeah, stashing your key(s) under your car or any other of the alternatives suggested here seem to be a real gamble nowadays.

That reminds me, I need to get another regular old-school key for for the water instead of just having my electronic one.

I usually use a pin number lockbox for my key while in the water. Works well.

Yeah i've been thinking about one of these as well but not having a tow bar i'm not sure where to attach it. Any suggestions?

Some of my mates attach it to through the door handle or a spoke on their wheel or if you have a fixed tow eye at the back it hangs kinda inconspicuously.

Had that happen at Rennies, absolute scum. Secure pin box for me know, good peace of mind.
