Just wanting to get some storage ideas for the garage.
Would love to see some people's setups. At the moment I've just made up a horizontal rack that sits on thr floor with some pool noodle and broom handle as dividers. Would love to build a rack that can take a few boards like the surf shops.
great question and I am really curious about what others use also as we have just bought ourselves our first boards and are looking at how t store them - we live in a townhouse so space is limited.
we have seen some SUP storage racks online from a company up in QLD called "Rack-it-Up" - nice and cheap racks and they look very easy to install
have anyone had any experience with these racks and would be kind enough to comment?
excellent topic and great timing for us
cheers
Yes the rack it up racks are excellent, cheap, strong, easy to put up (even in brickwork).
I have 2 SUP boards on a wall using these.
Highly recommended for storage.
Not quite what you're looking for, but in an apartment block with a car space (no individual garage), I use Sea To Summit Aquaslings attached to the back of my storage box on wheels for easy access (board is locked to the box and box is locked to the wall when not in use - trust no one!)
I was going to look for something similar to this. But its 140$ for this rack. Surely I can knock one up for alot cheaper.
Thanks Hoppo, great to hear mate.Nugdam ... this is what the Rack-It-Up ones look like ... and for $40 I'm sure you can knock something up similar to what you have been looking at for way cheaper than buying them, for us we don't have the luxury space wise to have them straight out from the wall, I believe the ones we are looking at only come out approx 35cm from the wall.
Hi
Built my rack several years ago. Two 2"x4" s with doweling. Held up well but thinking of upsizing the dowels as there is some flex that I would like to reduce when changing fins.

I just use chains hung from the joists with a bit some plastic tube, under $100 and 20 minutes Work.
Zeus - looks good - how do you support the horizontal shelves - is it plywood in one sheet ?
is that an item of clothing hanging from nearest rack - it looks kind of small and transparent ?
Panel roller door Racks.
Storage for 5 boards (3 x 14'/Unlimited & 2 surf SUP's) in the ceiling.
All for less than $100.
Unfinished board is 17'4" x 28"
