Having a free week and Lou from Eastcoast SUP up for a paddle, we ventured down to the River for a mid afternoon paddle in the rain.
With Lou on the run back out with the tide, I ventured to the lookout and snapped these images which give such a wonderful overview of the surrounds.
Thanks for sending in these pics. I am really keen to do a good river paddle like that some day. You are onto something there!
I was going to drive from the Gold Coast to Broken Hill over Esater and do some paddling in the Darling river. Settled for a surf trip to Tonga instead, this time.
Hey DJ - thanks mate. It was a 9'6 McTavish......not ideal but it did a good job for him just cruising.
Mikeman, give me a call when you're in Sydney and I'll get you out there.
The Bats ? WTF ? I'll be sure to call you when next in Vicco bro.
yeah well it was a very relaxing sojourn back to Swallow Rock, it was pure glass and eerily quiet. Saw some fins out of the water near the green marker and tacked left immediately haha also saw quite a few small rays a bit further along where it got really shallow.
It really is a great spot down there and I'll probably never tire of paddling it...ahh the serenity...
It was my first real crack at the 9'6 and admittedly it was quite loose in the tail at first and wanted to veer all over the place, it's obviously not designed for cruising, but for someone of my dimensions (165cms & 67kg) it really ended up working well and the longer I was on the water the more I warmed to it. It was probably a 5km round trip and I knew then I would not hesitate to take it back out on the flat water again.
Thanks to Chris for the great optics that's a sensational vantage point !
