Hey suppers
heading to Sri Lanka in a couple of weeks. Cos it's June, the west coast is apparently out due to monsoon and the east coast is the go - in and around Arugam Bay. Not taking a board, so looking for any info on surf sup hire?
g'day
Been there with a sup and there's so many fun set ups up and down the coast I'd be totally taking your own sup.
Didn't see any options for sup rental when I was there. (Only surfboards) or nothing you'd want to ride anyways.
You'll be cursing to be there without a board
very cool place
Thanks Scott
unfortunately our 2 weeks in SL is a small part of a longer trip in (mainly) non-surf places, so taking a board was out - oh well, see how I go
I managed to hire a board down in Ahanghama when I was there for a week in January - around 20 boards for hire - feel free to PM me for info.
We didn't make it over to Arugam Bay given the time of year, but I've been following lots of similar threads as I fancy making another trip out to Sri Lanka in the future.
My initial impressions are Arugam is a lot less developed than whats happening around Ahanghama/Midigama so would be surprised if you can land on any rentals.
I've read very conflicting info on Arugam Bay, with some things I've read saying sups are banned
Thanks chestersup
from a aup surfing perspective, the conditions were pretty bad - onshore and no swell pretty much along the south coast to Aragam - so didn't even get in the water
however, on the positive side, Sri Lanka is pretty amazing and the people very friendly. Particularly loved the highlands and the food everywhere was terrific. Will try again in a different season next year
Glad to hear you had a good trip - we came away buzzing from our trip to Sri Lanka - reminded me of lots of different countries part India, part Africa with the tropics all bundled together.
Food, people, landscapes and the wildlife were great.
Would love to find out the situation with sups around Aragam Bay.
We had a great week around Ahanagama - surf was quite big for my level of sup surfing whilst I was there but learnt alot.
Definitely on the list of places to go back to.
