This must also be said for Angie!
First up a big thanks to all the SUPWA crew and sponsors of the race. What a race it was! I was in lala land up until 17km! Not sure what I was doing really, having a shocker I couldnt link any bumps and felt like I was going backwards. Karla had a good clear 800m gap ahead of me and I was just not feeling it. But! Then about 18km mark I woke up hahaha seriously it was like a light switch went off hahaha well and then I started to get faster and faster! I caught up to karla and we exchanged bumps for what seemed forever with 4km to go we went so hard I have never paddled so hard ever we were going bump for bump! And if u missed a bump well then you wouldve lost. With 1km to go I found another gear I could see the finish line and I went for it! I went so hard I linked a bunch of good bumps and just managed to pull a small 50m gap on her. 100m to go I had it I just had to hold the wave coming in as I knew she would be on the wave behind and lets face it I didnt want to get in the run sprint up the beach against Karla Gillbert. I was stoked and I couldnt believe it really. Time to relax I even had a chocolate sundae last night :)
Its been a longer racing year for me and im happy im now finished.
I have a feeling this race is going to be massive next year!!
Congrats to all racers and congrats to beau on his double win aswell.
also big thanks to jacko my biggest supporter Xx
Well done Angie , beat home an Aussie legend too. These couple of wins should put you right up their in the womens rankings.
Well done to all that partook..and especially the organisers and sponsors! It was my first attempt at down winding and was amazed I made it to the 17km mark. I opted to be extracted rather than destroy myself. Hats off to those that made it through the final 7km stretch especially the midfielders and tailenders - Champions!!
I'm now officially hooked on DW so thanks WA, Interstate and International crews for the inspiration. Nothing but inspirational!

Unfortunately these two races didn't accrue points for the women as they didn't qualify under the criteria set down by SUPracer.
