Been through a few leggies riding my 12 ft PSH lately. I know it is a big board but still these leggies should hold on better.

They seem to be breaking at the ankle strap and rail saver only as that is the weakest spots due to the joins.

Been a mixture of 10ft creatures of leisure and Da Kine thick 10/8 mm cords. Have managed to MacGiver the Da Kine for the meantime till a reliable replacement is found.

Surf has been no bigger than 4ft and have both broken after bailing in front of a closeout set.
Anyone recommend a good strong reliable leash for a 12 ft surfing board??

I've had a good run with these. And they're comfy.
Tried and broken plenty of others.

most leggie manufacturers will only back their produce for 6 x months max after that your on your own and most likely swimming!!
Lots of brands some will drag you backwards through the water because they have NO give. Im a fan of the dakine leggies but I know after 6 x or 8 x months they will need replacing... my 2 x bobs

Know that swimming feeling well after a 300m swim today at the Alley on an out going tide.
Swam past other useless suppers who just paddled past my board heading north towards Palm Beach.
Very un-Australian not to grab hold of it for me I thought (rant over). I always grab someone's board if their leggy breaks till they can get to it.

Hey Wazza let me know next time your out at the Alley, so I can retrieve your PSH and make a quick $800 on gumtree.

I have bought some of these O&E ONE XTs, and I like them a lot. Seem really more stretch-resistant than the other leashes.

I've become a big fan of the leashlok 9mm after breaking a ton of dakines just the way you described. Much better design at the swivel point than I have seen in other leashes. With a 12'0, I'd buy one of their waist leashes too while you are at it. Big boards can work your legs, even on small days.

The Creatures of Leisure Outer Reef seems really strong but the ankle Velcro is on the short side. Ok in the summer but I've stopped using mine in winter as once its over a wetsuit and boots there isn't a lot of overlap on the Velcro.

These do the job now they fixed the tail saver string issue quite some time ago. More likely to pull plug out than snap leggie.
Highly recommend these.

whatever the brand......suspect good idea to have an almost new one you only use on big scary days.......and the older one you continue to thrash on smaller days

get a leashlok waist leash--they are super durable, and the waist concept is superior--try it, youll never grab your ankle again!

no kidding tho--strongest, best leash setup

After reading this thread I checked my leash....

Creatures of Leisure Outer Reef, a bit over 12 months old, but doesn't get used that much. So pleased I checked it, can't decide whether the torn rubber is structural or just a cosmetic plate, either way, not sure I trust it any more?

Have one as well as a Crow Haley waist leash.

I find them far superior - saves my bung knee as well as a more gentle pull.

Picked up an ION SUP leash. It's great. 8ft long and 11mm thick I think. Was cheaper than the other brands I've bought. The ankle strap is comfortable. I've tried creatures, balin stormrider, have an Ocean and Earth for small days. The ION one is my favorite that I've tried so far though.
