Got invited to go along with Sunova boys & AA to Maqai in Fiji. It's an 1-5 hour flight north from Nadi by small plane. Our Sups couldn't fit on the plane so Andrew from the Beachouse loaded his boat with all the boards plus Bert Burger & the Sunova crew and made the 200 mile journey to Maqai.
Maqai was such a beautiful place and has so much surf potential straight out front but we got slammed by weather including a category one cyclone. This made it so hard to film but we did manage a few moments of sunshine , the waves were scarce but we still had heaps of fun. Grab a drink and enjoy the video.
Hi VP
Thinking of heading to the Beachouse with the family for SUP Surfing / Surfing / Diving
Do you recommend the place for family's ?
What is the best time of the year for swell and no wind ?
Cheers
Where were all the kites surfers???
That was my gear , it was maxing out plus wind and current always went the same way , tiny little beach to launch and land at high tide , miss that and you end up in another country. Got a couple of sessions in but it was really sketchy. Just the weather killed it could have been so good.

Our winter for swell & wind (it's pumping right now) our summer for low wind small swell. Beachouse is the perfect family place plus you pretty well have everything you mentioned straight out front or short boat trip.
Totally agree with Piros
here's a photo of a tuna I caught at the end of April at the Beachouse after we surfed at Frigate's all day
my family and I love this place
so much to do as the sign on the gate says when you arrive welcome home
if you come down to Scotts Head sup weekend youll have a chance of winning a weeks accomadation
Pitty about the weather. I surfed that break about 2 years ago, and it was awesome! Solid waves with no wind. We stayed at Qamea, which is a adults only resort with only 16 Bura's on the beach. Tropicsurf had a office there, so just rented a SUP off them. Pricey for the surfing, but it was def worth it. Would highly recommend it. They were just building the surf camp at the time, and one of the guys would join us on his longboard... Paddled over every time we were there...
A lot of effort and strenuous travel, just to watch a Hurricane from sea level
But it looks like you had a great time of it!
Sometimes trips like that remain longer in your memories..... thanks for the great video!
This is the same trip different video for AA at Balmoral Paddle Surf showing the others guys on the trip.
Thanks Rob... great to see some more surfing!
Andrew, great ripping on your your Speeed!
Looked like a fun session and nice to see all the boards.
You brought enough beer... right?

Sweet as!!
Awesome job Rob considering we had 6 out of the 10 days day were trash.
The 4 days we did have were really good as long as you could handle the 15-18 knots out back on Kava Bowls left and a decent current on the right.
The right was a gem and we had it ON for 2 days and then the cyclone rolled in......
Boat issues and currents meant that it was not caught on film so I guess it didn't happen .
The whole trip was a real adventure in a magical part of Fiji, made that much better by a solid crew who kept smiling to the end.
I'd do it again at the drop of a hat, but maybe not in an El Nino year
