Hey guys
Does anyone know. If these guys are still in business, the phone rings out, no message bank, no emails get answered? I know its Byron but the surf is crap at the moment so I know they are not surfing??
Well Wednesday has come and gone and still no one answers the phone, not much interested in business obviously. can anyone suggest another place to get a stretchy cover for my SUP.
Well I gave up on a custom cover and ordered from 1SUP1 in 10ft, hopefully its wide enough as there is nothing about sizing on the website. I will cut 7 inches off the end and re sew the cord back in to make it fit. Tried Board Sox in VIC and they are not interested either.
This is disappointing - I was about to order up a new bag.
They've always been really, really good to deal with. but I did notice that last time I was on their webpage there was a notice about 'new' owners or management... which doesn't seem to be there now.
I've got a couple of their custom bags, and they're awesome, and service was sensational too, but that was before the new owners/management.

What size do you need? I bought a surf aids one for my 10 x 29 and never ended up using it.
I spoke to them about two weeks ago to order a custom bag. They sounded like businesss as usual, the board didn't arrive for a fortnight so I sent through the order form last Thursday and phone rings out no reply. I guess I'll be ringing Wednesday but a business only answering phones one day a week doesn't sound right.
I have ordered a 1SUP1 board cover and will cut it down to suit. I have had no contact from them at all, emails not answered and they never answer the phone. All bad business if you ask me, new owners may be looking to sell it back to the old ones if this is how they operate, very unprofessional.
I rang the hardware store across the road from them today. The nice lady walked over for me. She said half the store was being used by Stone & Wood for storage. The blokes in there said Surf Aids business has been sold to a new owner and were looking for a new premises. She said " I think you might be waiting a while ". Ordered an Ocean & Earth cover this evening. Pretty fkd it takes so much effort to find all this out.
I have a SurfAids cover custom made about 3 years ago for a 14' One Evo. I was very happy with the product. If these are no longer available, what are the recommendations for a similar cover (10ml thickness) in the future for a 14' sup? Thanks
I emailed surf aids and got this response. Hopefully helps some people. I'll order in the new year.
"Due to moving factory's we have put a stop to producing heavy duty and day bags until next year. We are still taking orders for stretch covers coils and leg ropes".
Cheers

Yep I got the same 4 days ago, I wanted to order a stretch cover, but it took 3 weeks to get a sorry we are closed email. Have they not heard of a Message machine on their phone number or divert calls to someone who will answer?
No business sense to just not answer your phone or email, I would go out of business if I did that? 1SUP1 sent me an email next days and have sent it already, Aus Post is my only hold up now.
Yeah like ,people who go surfing and not keep an eye on the quality, control of there product, not a good business model!

I'll be interested to read some reviews next year regarding any feedback on the quality and customer service of their products. Particularly the 10mmm, heavy duty travel bags.
1SUP1 board sock arrived yesterday, the 10ft one fits my 9.5 board perfectly at 32 wide, great quality so no need for a custom sized board cover after all and they are open???
Tried to order a stretch cover online. No PayPal option and directed to ring 02 6685 7957 between 8:30 and 4:30pm to make payment.
I ring and ring and ring and ring - no answer!
Any updates on this business? I've ordered heaps from these guys in the past. Quick service and friendly.
I am hesitant to pay via bank transfer, especially when they can't even answer a phone.

Go to 1SUP1 in Gold Coast, at least they answer and send goods.
I've ordered custom travel bags from these guy a few times amazing service and quality however I was informed yesterday the business was sold to some really nice people only to be evicted from the landlord a couple of months into ownership apparently the building is being demolished same thing has happened to others in the same industry park. They are currently seeking new premises I wish them all the best once they reopen, imagine purchasing a business then being evicted, one must ask the question did the seller know this was coming?

I live close to Byron, and just don't go near the place unless I have to! The surf aids story is so typical of the NEW Byron demographic!,I used to love doing the rounds of the surf shops out there ,surf eye candy galore, just recently went to a new surf company, that's located in the old MC factory, impressive, but I was to busy looking at the floor, because that was the only thing I could relate to,as the true history of the place was still there,in the form of the old lay out with walls,on the floor, shaping room ,glassing, sanding ,spray booth ect, brought back memories of being lucky enough to be able to walk through and be involved with the MANY Michael Cundith designs I purchased over3 decades,at least it still has
surf energy ,and not a boutique brewery .
Yes Byron has changed I normally do a lap around the industrial area and head home rarely do I go into town
Any updates on what's happening with them? I've been trying for months now. Never get my calls or emails returned. Are they still trading and should I persevere?
I have read in another surfing forum that someone had recently purchased a new Surf Aids boardcover. According to the post, the new owners are now operating out of Ballina. The post did state however that both phone and email contact with them had continued to been nearly non existent. Does anyone have any updates on this situation, as trying to source a good quality cover for a 14'x 28" SUP is proving quite difficult?
Thanks.

Probably easier said than done given your circumstances but I honestly would rather go without than give them the business.
At some point you have to call out poor business practices to make them accountable, otherwise they will continue doing the same thing without change.
I've recently bought a couple of stretch covers through Wildthings Gallery.
Can someone tell me if these are made through Surf Aids? I note the stitching and nose cones are exactly the same. There was a catch though with one of my stretchies from Wildthings. I ordered a 12' and it was basically 1' too short - WTF??? They made me a 13' stretchy to fit a 12' - just be careful.
