Hi people,

I was using my SUP at Tallebudgera Creek (near the sea, somewhere here - www.google.com.au/maps/place/28%C2%B005%2740.3%22S+153%C2%B027%2738.7%22E/@-28.094521,153.460757,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0 )

After some time a life saver started running back and forth on the right shore, showing with his hand a direction away from the sea. He calmed down when I paddled to the direction he has shown.

I wonder what it was? (There was a strong current from the sea because of the tide, so I guess it was safe there)
Or it is forbiden to use SUP there? (but there were other SUPs on the water)

Any ideas?

paddled there the other day...lost a QB paddle their a few months ago too....probably a super clubbie keeping the world safe, maybe you were getting a bit close to the rock wall on Burleigh side? - or a massive bull shark. Paddled there Sunday - common SUP spot and also a common bull shark entry point to tally creek

Definitely not forbidden to SUP there, you'll find me there all the time. Could have been several reasons for the clubbie wanting you to move (strong current, shark, dolphin, mad clubbie in an IRB) I wouldn't worry about it to much. Just enjoy the fun little waves

I've wondered about sharks there but have only ever seen dolphins, has anyone ever been attacked around the mouth or towards the bridge?

Not since the early 1900's I think.... so a while ago haha! Like any waterway that's open to the ocean, there eventually has to be sharks. The surf spot around the corner towards burleigh is called 'sharkies' too. There is so much human activity near the mouth I doubt they'd hang around there anyways and they head up the canals. I wouldn't be too freaked out :)

Tough crowd, given a red card for commenting hahahaha. There are sharks there but hey, it connects to the ocean, I've seen three in there in the past 2 years a great white was caught of the bridge a long time back, but if you are always going to worry about sharks, you should take up fresh water supping. Just enjoy yourself and be aware of what's going on around you

Yeah cool, I don't think bout sharks really, more just curious to hear from locals, I've holidayed there a few times with the family. Funny cause I had a friend come up here over Xmas from caloundra n he was a bit concerned bout surfing at my local spot Mon Repos due to sharks, I've surfed there for 20 years n have only seen 1
