Gday All,
I got scammed here myself last year with some piece of **** replying to a wanted ad for a Hokua I posted.
Anyway I was a bit cranky as expected and haven't been on here for awhile. I kept seeing my password was incorrect and thought I had just fat fingered the keyboard.
Anyway, today I dug deeper and got onto support where we realized my account had been taken over and the grub was trying to sell a Smik paddle board under my user. That post has since been removed and I have sent pm's to the last few people who had asked about it a month ago.
I hope no one lost any money to the scumbag who had control of my user and I can positively say the real "Whitey" is back with alot stronger password etc.
Thanks All and look forward to chatting again about all things surfing and foiling.
Heres a photo of my rough head too.
Cheers
Geoff (yt04)
with alot stronger password etc.
Glad you could recover from your ordeal, these things are so distressing.
On strong passwords, know that contrary to popular belief, what makes a password strong is merely its length, not any use of wild chars.
This way you can create passwords that are both strong and easy to remember and type.
E.g: "This is my phrase to enter the site, quite long by design" is infinitely more secure than "!#%@3Yyo"

Still after a Hokua?
Hey buddy, good to see a familiar face.
Not anymore as I did found one from a reputable seller. in Sydney and he shipped it up no dramas.
I did get scammed from my wanted ad. The cleaver bastard said the right things, spoke surfing and sup to the letter and got me. First time I've ever been scammed and did my cash (not a heap thank f*ck) and surprisingly no warning signs at all till the next day.
Banks were pathetic and no help at all and it was all in Australia from some scumbag based in country victoria.
Oh well, lesson learned the hard way and I won't get sucked in again, Cash only and hand over the item there and then.
Hi Geoff
Sorry to hear the news, sounds like a bloody nightmare.
As this might help others in the future and avoid being scammed what exactly happened. Did you send money to his account/BSB then no board turned up ????

Yeah Phil, he sucked me in. I've always been really cautious and safe but this guy got me. He replied to a wanted ad I placed for a board. Heaps of photos and I did a google search and couldn't find any copies.
He spoke surfing, supping and Aussie perfect and I had no triggers re speaking engrish etc. said he was living out in western nsw now and not needing the board as he moved to wife's home town due young bubby. He was working from home in IT so again no alarms.
Anyway, I felt safe, sent through $$ to his account (anz account in western Victoria as I checked) and he did t reply next day when inasked
for shipping details. I straight away rang the freight company he said he told
me
never heard of him, me they don't ship boards. I got straight onto my bank (nab) who were pathetic and did bugger all and $$ gone. I'll only deal with cash now in person but at least it wasn't a large amount.
