The start of winter has brought an end to a seemingly endless series of northerly, north westerly, or westerly gales in Melbourne.
It has also brought a couple of cold, clear, calm mornings.
This morning around the local haunts was pretty nice.
Although with 6 degree air and 14 degree water, it might be the last morning without booties for a while.
First stop Mentone 7.00 after dropping daughter at athletics training.
It was darker than that.
Glassy Beaumaris Bay beckoned, but I wanted to give the sun a chance.
Cup of coffee slowly drunk, 7.40 saw some sun.
Headed north for a check at Half Moon Bay, little northerly, tiny wind chop, would have been nice but headed back to Beaumaris.
Conditions lovely.
Photos can tell the rest.
I once spotted two seemingly-abandoned plastic kayaks one morning by the mouth of the old cave under those cliffs (I think it was a Thursday morning). I paddled over to investigate.
I needn't have been concerned, it was just two friends enjoying a "special cuddle".
Haven't seen any Cave dwellers since the strange individual in maybe August 2014.
Edit - found the photos - this was probably another 6 degree morning, no sun in evidence.
Had the whole of Hazelwood pondage to my self this morning for a paddle. Did a quick 7.5 K's. Best part of it. The water is warm too
