Though they weren't all like that,
one i was forced down into the lip and it absolutely exploded my existance !
I lost my paddle, the board was ripped off the leash, lost my hat and my board shorts where down around my ankles !
it took me a while to re set my self after that wipe out where i ended up on the rocks (thankfully i didn't lose my booties)
and ended up with just a few small cuts, though i felt my face rip past the reef with inches to spare.
Good post and barrel Ian ..... right hander I know your a natural footer so im half way there
Ps Been pretty suplishis month whilst the water / days say warm
Ozzy was charging and was shacked proper a few times, I know, I was there watching from the safety of the shoulder.
In the 3rd photo you can see he is actually in the shade keeping out of the sun.
It was quite a mission to get there with SUP's but well and truly worth the effort.

The advice given to us before heading out was, don't straighten out, stay high or die.....
Our first day was probably the biggest, I went for it, didn't make a section and ended up on the reef fairly early on.
Luckily there was no major damage so I headed back out only to find my way into one that exploded on me when taking on the end section, when I surfaced I had not only lost my paddle but also both booties, I have never lost one before that I can remember so I couldn't believe I lost 2 in the one wipeout, talk about feeling vulnerable.
That was day one and a couple of other crew were missing heaps more skin than me, so I played it pretty safe from then on.
Nice guys how good is that gaffa tape holding that nose together sic pits nearly as good as our menties trip
Had to put this one in of Galvo this is what happens when you leave your blade up high in the lip You Eat It you were lucky on that one must be the 475 blade ha ha
Galvo that is so funny. - maybe a bit to much flat rocker dude - - never under estimate Mr Ian Ioz in real waves as I have found out after many trips surf & kite trips together - he always gets & eats up the bombs

I was just about to say the same thing, that third photo shows he's in the shade ,doesn't need a sun hat
The power of those waves is very evident with the lip impact spray going higher than the wave face, scary but fun.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Loz, looks like I'm stuck on the 8'5" - if I lose those 5kgs there'll be nothing left of me!
