This is not new. Been through the forward facing fin phase once fin boxes were invented. Inspired by the forward swept wings on fighter aircraft.... which in theory was supposed to reduce or eliminate slow speed turbulence. Of course.. that did not become the trend... and, as said.... it about the theory. For mine... I still would not be putting my fin in like that, even if it provided some advantages.... as it poses a nice hazard and a great way to collect every last bit of the weed you encounter!
This method does away with surf racks.
You can just hook the board up on the upstairs balcony
F'n brilliant!
The theory even works on soft tops.
Just about everything in that pic is wrong, including his shorts and pockets, but I do like that snazzy flip phone on the carabiner, might have to get one of those.
I wonder if his leash is still attached to his ankle?
Maybe the fin has to go that way around to counter the paddle being used facing the wrong way. BTW, what's the etiquett. Do you point out to people they are using the paddle the wrong way around? Then if there are a few beginners, it becomes contagious and they all have the paddle facing the wrong way?
