Andy Yates is known to be a freak Athlete in anything he does. Surfing, kiting, paragliding and now he likes going fast on the SUPs. He has done a few races in NQ and dominated all of them finishing almost 2 mins before the next guy at the recent 3km Battle of the Barge Race Townsville. In strong winds he finished the course in just over 25mins with an average speed of about over 7.2kph beating even the OC6. He was on pretty old/ average gear (2012 Fanatic Falcon 14'0x25 and 2012 Fanatic Carbon 80).Last Sunday he came down to help out with one of our Sup Fitness Classes and we chucked him on a 2015 Starboard Allstar 14x25 and a Quickblade V-Drive to do the 300m sprint with marker rounding. You can see the results below. ( BGT-31 GPS)Time 79sec
Top speed Over 14kph

Maybe his long arms from years of powered handle passes help

Andy is looking for a SUP sponsor!!
