Ok I woke up at 5am today hoping that it was one of those occassions (30% of the time)when the weather forecast was TOTALLY WRONG. Unfortunately ESE 25+kns was a little understated and ESE is about as bad as it gets here
2 years ago that would have meant rolling over and catching a few ZZZZZZZZZZZZZs or worse having to sort out some chores around the house
Never thought you would see the day (yes DJ did finally after 3 years of convincing win 2 more converts) , however now we are sitting down studying maps to plan a down winder and bitching that the wind isnt a little stronger, trust me today it will get there 35+
Whilst watching DW videos would send a crack/speed addict to sleep, actually doing DWing in the right condtions is FUN
Hi Phil if your going for a DW ill come along if thats ok. I think Simon will also join us. I really like the handle you put on my board i hope Kristy likes hers, just let me know if you want another one as i think i'll get another.
Good one Phill.. I'm constantly looking at the map these days wondering how to do one in these odd wind directions that we keep getting lately.
DJ
Hey Justin,
If your getting another handle grab a second one for Kristi and I will sort you out they are the shiz for a Fanatic.
Just waiting on the child shuffle plan for today and then DW here we come, thinking about 230 - 300?
Yes no probs mate i shall order a pair this week for us. Just give me call on my mbl with all the details for DW'er today. Cant wait i'll start loading up on Coffee and Red Bull soon so i am pumped for when we get going.
Motor boat off fisho's! That would be an unreal run today.
Otherwise, Point Henry to North Shore. Or for something longer, Curlewis / Clifton Springs to Point Henry.
Hi Simondo it would be good to get a longer DW'er in today. As much as i like the ones we be doing lately problem is its over to fast. Would like to try some DW action down in Melb with that crew sometime to
did a reverse d/w with a couple of likely lads yesterday, from HMB to point ormond, gusting 25 + good wild runners, plenty of work for the LHS, great to make use of an otherwise ordinary wind, its good to have all winds covered now in the Bay
Well Woody the DW was EPIC!
Simon, Justin, Nick and Kristi had a ball preparing for the Mad Mad Paddle.
A nice 25kn+ stiff breeze and 2hrs 53mins completed the 18.5kms
They will all sleep well tonight, some may even be in the dog house for being home late but it was worth it.
Phill
That's what you call a Point to Point DW Run! Point Richards over at Portarlington to Point Henry. Thanks OG, your efforts are priceless. Really makes these things happen smoothly and safely.
We were concentrating on catching long runners, and all of a sudden we realised we were slightly off course... We chewed up time getting back on course, plus some regrouping stops, and generally enjoying the scenery... Awesome run. With hind sight, running along coast was where the better runners were. The further we headed off shore, the more confusion there was between a localised wind swell, and longer period swell originating from Frankston.
Point Wilson is the closest readings... Was doing a pretty steady 20 knots from the east.

Done deal Mr Lacey,
We will sort that one out for sure another trip to Cooly is on the cards anyway!
Rough course from today
Couple lessons learned
Note to self when map says Spray Farm Rd is dry weather only, it means it! Without all wheel drive and a little creative use of the loud pedal we would have been totally screwed.
Bail out at the last caravan park not Point Henry it makes life so much easier.
Thanks OG for looking after us all on our paddle, really appreciate everything. What a great time it was some of those runners where awesome. What a great crew we have. Cant wait to go again
