Before flying to Bali I looked at my spare paddle shaft and decided I wouldn't need it. So of course yesterday in small slop at Sanur I landed on my paddle and snapped it. With a forecast increase in swell I didn't want to lose time searching for a replacement or hire paddle so last night I went to the supermarket and bought a bamboo broom, a chisel and some gaffer tape. Hopefully it lasts the day.
I have done the same with a slight upgrade.
I tapered the end of the dowel and wraped with electrical tape to minimise a sudden stress point.
Good on you...If it gets you back out there ..win win .they make floors out of bamboo ...had the odd bamboo fishing rod to..it's tough..
Good work Vandals
Should you have any dramas I have 3 spare paddles at my Villa in Sanur
Let me know if you get stuck
Cheers
Thanks for that Dhusouth! Hopefully it will last until Tuesday when we head back to WA but if not I'll give you a shout. Thanks again!
Well it lasted the trip, although the surf wasn't big enough to really put it to the test. Still, I had fun riding my Sunova in Bali for the last time, which is the subject of my next post.
