Thumbs Up

Bought a new Sunova Surf 10'11" ( about 216 litres floatation) SUP 2 weeks ago from Standuppaddle boards in North Fremantle. So far used it for SUP in the Swan at Matilda Bay and Swanny Ocean Classic Race last week. When I bought it I went for the XXX version which has a mast track, balsa wood construction, carbon impregnated rails and better fins (3) thinking it might be a gimmick to have windsurfing capability but maybe useful.

Yesterday went to Pelican Point with both a six metre sail and a paddle, unsure what the conditions would be. It was choppy and windy, 15-17 knots, so I rigged up the sail. Ended up crossing from Pelican Point to Applecross a couple times and it was a great day. The board was extremely stable ( lucky, no straps) planned well, was actually really quite fast downwind, allowed you to move around as its so large and a great deal of fun. Because of its longboard shape and the waves on the Swan, downwind it felt like you were catching an endless rolling wave on a long board.

Im going to pack the sail in future, just in case the SUP conditions aren't great.

Anyone had experience and tips for these large windSUPs?
