Hi there
Just wanting to know if anyone carts their stand up paddle board on a toyota hilux, just not sure bout the over hang. And if so what racks do people use.
Cheers

I've a Dual Cab Navara. No problems at all. Just try and make sure your roof racks are as widely spaced as possible.

It's not a Hilux but similar, you shouldn't have any issues as long as the racks are spaced as far apart as possible, we routinely travel hundreds of k's with up to 8 boards strapped on top, and there is no need to go nuts when tightening them either, a little bit of wobble is better than overtightening and creasing a board.

I put a 14 footer on a Getz - no dramas ! Rhino and Thule make fine racks.

I'd never admit to anything regarding a Getz...

You can't beat the Toyota Hilux Truck I've had mine 14 years already it's never mist a beat. I got a custom rack built in the middle of the tray to make it easy to transport my unlimited boards.

The 18ft Infront Prone Paddleboard

The custom SIC f18 18'6'' the only one of it's kind in Australia (Built For Speed in light conditions)

The custom SIC f16 17fter the only one of it's kind in Australia (Built for performance in 30+ knots)

Are there any other cheaper options for roof racks other than rhino, thule etc? i need to get two for the roof of my landcruiser, however i flinched when my local rhino rack guy said $389 for two racks. just seeing if there are cheaper options out there before i outlay the cash.

Rhino are great and I got mine for $150 off gumtree - near new off a Magna. You can buy great pads to fit the foiled Rhinos for $20 each - contoured to fit the deck shape - I don't use those as I need to carry flat material..

If you don't like the Rhinos or Thules try Rak Australia (google it it's easy to find...)

The racks are adjustable and can be transferred to a new vehicle. I'm on my third car with the same pair. Just need to buy the attachments when you change cars.

Funny enough I looked at the other two for my latest car (Jeep GC 2014) and they wouldn't guarantee them if the load stuck out past the windscreen. How the hell am I supposed to carry my boards (2 SUPs & 3 longboards) if they can't stick out past the windscreen.

Anyway I spoke to one of the guys at Rak and he said there was no problem. Different mounting style (they're mounted using two of the screw holes for the roof rails).
