Hi folks, my neighbour recently passed away and when His Mum was clearing out His stuff, she asked if I wanted a couple of surf boards that were in there. Since we moved in, He would always ask about surfing when I was loading my boards and He said he always wanted to give surfing a go. Whenever we would put board outside for council cleanup - He would always ask if he could have them, so I almost got them back during the cleanup. He also had stacks of magazines and DVD's but in the many years we lived next to Him, I don't believe He ever got to surf. I offered to go with Him but it just never happened.
One of the boards is shown below. Just wanted to see if anyone on here knew anything about it's origin or history. It's 8ft9 and has a repair just back from the grey stripe. It has either snapped or been shortened on purpose - it's a really solid repair. The bottom is painted white all over maybe to hide the repair. Would be good to see what anyone knows.
I'm going to surf the big girl anyway, just to honour Andrew - my neighbour, but I'm intrigued by it's history.
I have another 7ft2 Shane singlefin from around the late 70s that was also in the garage. It has a fair bit more damage, but I'll post some pictures of that later.
Thanks in advance for any snippets of information.

Mick Byrnes in Newcastle l, I'd guess early - Mid 90s. The shop is still there his son (jye) shapes them now mostly, Mick still does a few I think. Give them a google and flick them a msg. It will surf good. Those 8ftrs were loads of fun.
