Confession time and need advice.

My dhd switch blade just feels a little short and not quite enough rocker and volume. Ever since ive been a kid, ive always surfed 6.2 s.

I cant find a semi hybrid performance 6.2 with about 35 lts so I dropped in to sdr and have ordered a monkey chip. 6.2.
I know some will say your over volumed at 73 kgs but it feels right and after mals and 666.s its ok. Pre 666 days I would have freaked out at a board that size. One must consider the daily gold coast battle for waves too
Anyway it generally comes as a sq tail. More versatile sdr reckons but I cant get my head around a sq tail I fear the squirrel.
I said ill go him halfs.
A diamond tail.
What do you reckon

Remember support your local shaper.
Long boards dont matter

Diamond tail sounds good. I'm not a fan of square tails. Why not a swallow? A lot of my boards over the years had a variety of swallows - mainly around four inch but some bigger and all the way down to a two inch swallow on a gun.

And I don't think 35 litres sounds too much.

na mate wont work. I'd just keep running the THC with KFC, CCs, VB and STDs..

But I have never been so confused about fins as with quads, I gave up in the end and bought what the bloke in the shop said..

What did the shop guy suggest And i may have missed it but what board is it you've got

Sadly i often find the shop guy suggests what they have on the shelf as the best option..

Yeah the shop was the boards shapers shop front so wasn't to concerned about being sold what was in the rack.

Board is nothing new just a really wide tailed fish I've had it for a while and never really sorted the fins out. Quads have me confused.

I always loved swallows - it is the bird of true love after all

In all seriousness the reason I do not order them anymore is I was sick of repairing the tails all the time. They just loved to get chipped for me no matter how much I try my best to look after them.

Yeah there's swallows and then there are swallows. They need to be thick with a lot of glass and resin hanging over them. I have had swallows glasses like they rails and they are egg shells wanting to shatter, but thick glass and resin (and Tom Hoye does them about a quarter inch thick on top of the foam) and they are far more resilient.

These days I ride mainly pins and rounded pins and they seem so much less damageable than swallows. Funnily enough I have a twin fin sitting in the shed waiting for a swallow repair. It's only been there two years waiting for two hours work.

I would think so. How big do you want this board to surf?

Diamond tails reduce the rail line length...so with a 5'10 vader for example with a 1/2 diamond nose and tail when its goes on rail your only turning a 5'9....with a pin or a swallow you end up with more rail line in the water...I rode rounded squares for years...nice compromise on the chopped squares which always seem a bit abrupt to me

C'mon mate, i don't tell you to put training wheels on your Harley.

But the board doesn't have plugs for one and I think it kinda defeats the purpose of a quad putting one in.

Lacey!! You need to ride this thing mate...... Most surprising board I have ever ridden.

I've got one at home, you should have a spin! 7'2 Channel Islands waterhog in TLPC...... You look at it and think its a fun shape.. BUT it's actually a shortboard tail and rocker with a longer, round nose. Literally catches waves and paddles like a 7'2 but the 1 foot dissapears on the wave and it feels like it becomes a 6'2... Ultra, ultra light.

Seriously I could go on all day about it... Just come and get it and have a go!!
