I currently have a 9' garage made board that gets used occasionally...I'd call myself a low intermediate skill level.
I'm looking to get into longboarding a bit more and keen to buy a used 10'er....eventually I'd like to be in the position to buy a quality longboard...but at the moment the budget will only stretch to used "popouts"..
Please don't flame me for this decision...everyone has to start somewhere...
Can I please have some opinions on the layup, fin options, and noseride potential of these 3 boards...
10' AQSS Beau Young Bronze Whaler
10' AQSS Beau Young Seaplane
10' AQSS Vintage log Hemp.
9'8 AQSS Beau Young Re Evolution...
Thanks in advance,
Az

Lacey who if you don't know was a seabreeze legend he owned a Seaplane and loved it.

Cheers mate, appreciate your reply...
I think my search picked up some discussion his seaplane...
these are ok , designed by a local shaper ... Sideways Surf, they are a classic shape pinched rails & rolled bottom.
DEATHLESS 'PESTICIDE' LONGBOARD.
I've got a 10' Sea Plane.
Great board to ride, once I had it finned right (per Lacey's suggestion).
Interestingly, I've never even considered noseriding that board. I guess I surf that one in a way that doesn't lend to "hey, I'll just take a walk to the nose" like a couple of other boards I have.
Plenty of people say the build quality is great on the AQSS board - mine doesn't fit that description. Might be luck of the draw?
I think (?) the 'bronze whaler' is an updated sea plane... but don't quote me on that.
Cheers
Thanks for the replies,
I ended up grabbing an unused 10' AQSS Bronze Whaler (in the bronze colour).
Its 4 stringer, single fin box (no sides), and timber tail chock.
Should do me until I have the skills, money and care to upgrade to a nice hand shaped number.
I'm sure to be back asking some questions re fin setups.
Any help locating that post from Lacey talking about fins on his seaplane would be appreciated.
cheers,
Az
Nothing too wrong with what you have listed there Az, I quite like the sea plane models in particular for a cheapy.
I had a 9'1" Chinese made Modern longboard for a while that I got cheap second hand and it went pretty good. It was a Blackbird model made around 2013. It turned and paddled well plus could noseride with ease for me, fin set up was Tri fin and worked best with the large centre fin about halfway in the box.
