Anyone else mucking around with the new Apple Watch .
Been some surprising feed back for me on the GPS apps
(1) I only move about 20 minutes in an hour surf
(2) I cover about 2 kms in that time
(3) amazing how high the heart rate gets when a big set rolls in at me and I am paddling like hell to get through it ??

I have the Garmin Fenix 5 best watch it's heart monitor is better than the Garmin chest strap. I use it for cardio training. The golf GPS is excellent Has tuff Saphire glass And all programs are excellent the bike apps are perfect for my needs .ijust struggled with surfing to get the most out of it, found it helpful for SUP like cadences distance times gps ect.I've been told the Apple has better phone options but that's something I don't Look for. They are very clever and useful.Enjoy mate

Turn off home sharing or Family sharing and you won't get those messages

On topic I like my Ripcurl GPS watch....usually cover between 4 and 5km in an hour...longest waves this year was just over 420m I think...top speed 34km

I have A Garmin Forerunner.

Love it for walking, surfing, swimming, cycling, and anything else.

Also monitors a resting heart which I watch every morning. If it is high, usually means I will have a cold or virus the next day.

Fantastic mate.
just a question on that graph. Your heart rate zone is different to mine. My zones show At 130-144 the graph line turns orange over 145 it turns red. Is that reference from age settings Made for stress And zone levels? My best burn levels is orange you'd have to be sitting on 170 to do that, seams a hi bpm for zone 4.

ill send a pic of my graph from a workout below I don't get any anaerobic or aerobic benefits unless that line turns Orange or green.. Yours is showing hardly any Change/benefits going by the line colour. Anything at 150bpm is a decent burn for anyone,it has to have a line Colour change? Am I missing something.

Hi Cobra,

I'm not an expert on these things but will give you my take on it. Also go onto the Garmin Connect website and log in as there is a whole lot more data and info there.

From a few years ago when I was doing a lot of cycling I actually had my heart rate threshold tested in a lab and was assessed at 155 (not to be confused with max heart rate). That was explained to me that I should be able to ride all day at just under that level - above it and I am in the red zone and only have a about 50min before all my matches are spent. I did do some very long hill rides and it was pretty accurate and the watch came up with it's own calculation which was exactly the same. You do need to train up a bit but you would be surprised how long you can sustain in that orange and red zone. Below is a pic from a few years ago where I had done a hard 3 hour ride. I also reckon it depends on what exercise you are doing. Cycling it is seems easy to maintain a high heart rate for a long time whereas something that uses much more muscle groups feels a lot harder to keep going. I hope that made some sense. Cheers
