Shame on you Roy you never or rarely have anything positive to say about other shapers, its all about how wrong they are and how right
you are.

In other words I do have positive things to say about designs by other shapers ( recent examples being positive comments made about several of Ron Goddard's boards including the latest one posted here).

You'll also struggle to find anything negative posted by me on shortboard designs by other shapers, because I'm impressed with the current state of shortboard design. Longboards are another matter.

The truth about your boards is plan for all to see,too much ****** rocker for a start

You couldn't be more wrong on that score and I can prove it. Take the 13'9" dragon board posted here as an example... it has almost exactly the same rocker as a traditional Phil Edwards longboard blank which is considered to be extremely flat... the 12'9" Makaha is even flatter through the 9 foot long tail... and the 12' ghost has the equivalent of 3 inches of rocker over 9 feet.

no wonder you don't need to move on your boards

I do move.

because they are like bananas

don't work

Clearly incorrect.

can't smash a lip

Not designed to do so... I like ocean waves so why would I want to smash them?

In any case show me videos of 12 foot plus boards smashing lips.... it's not what they are for... the clue is in the name i.e. GLIDERS.

I know nothing about these glide boards

I agree with you there.

I too deleted a post yesterday.

It included a link to the definition of narcissism.

...but anyhow, I thought I was looking at photos of The Duke's toothpicks when I saw black and white images and extremely pointed 'boards'.

Come to think of it, show me a post Roy has added that doesn't mention his fins, boards or dare I say narcissistic comments ?

....now back to modern gliders please.

Modern is so last century... and posting insults against a man's character just because he has opinions on surfboard design is a pretty low response and commits the informal fallacy of argument known as the 'ad hominem attack'.

I can show you plenty of posts, including some on this thread which don't mention my boards or fins.

I mentioned that CJ was riding my fin in the clip posted... surely it is interesting that he was using one on his glider... and it's relevant... and it's not every day that a top longboarder is posted here usiing one of my fins so it's fair enough to say it.

Toothpick vs ice cream stick? ... could be discussed without resorting to accusations of mental illness... or is it because you can't enter the debate in any logical way but want to hang with the mates and show your support?... after all it's so cosy for bonding with friends when you have someone to communally hassle.... it doesn't matter that to anyone with even an average brain you make yourself look pretty idiotic in the process.

Carry on... maybe you should go and get drunk this evening, that's good for buddy/buddy switch the brain off time too.

I'll tell you lot something else for free... I've been extremely interested in Glider surfboard design for the past 20 years and have worked on them every day... I'm more interested in the design and performance side of it than any of you, so don't try to school me about it.... and don't try to shut me down over it. Lets's face it you could act in a more intellectual way and even possibly get something useful and interesting from my posts.

As far as I can tell you are just following the current trend. I started doing it when no one was doing it apart from Skip Frye and a couple of others... and I followed my own path from day one.

Watch this again and then tell me that the board doesn't work or that you wouldn't get a blast from the ride... then go and look in the mirror to see what you've become.

You know what's annoying.

When you look forward to going into a post thinking there will be something interesting..

And there isn't anything but a dick measuring contest....

Fark...bring back the fun green room...

Well don't blame me for that, I just post design stuff, it's the others who make it personal.

It's pretty telling when not one person commented that the boards I showed in the videos ride well when clearly they do... the denial is complete, at least in this room.

As I said I'm used to it, and am quite happy for you fellows to keep on flapping and flailing on your so called gliders which are just blown up mals outside of their functional zone.. at least they give group membership and have some of your favourite labels attached, the designs are from California made in Australia so it doesn't get any better... beer in the shaping bay and being part of a trend...

Cheers Leashless. Get one, I say!
This bloke goes allright on his 11' Eagle too...

Fins seems to work well enough.
Got any roundhouse cutbacks like CJ does on that inferior design with its flat rocker and straight planshape to show us Roy or is the board and its displacement tail not designed to enable that kind of turn?
By the way don't bother denegrating my intellectual capacity since I have a Bachelors degree with a major in Psychology and also trained as a journalism major with a Bachelor of Business.

I'm sorry boys. I just don't get it!!
Even if I had waves like the ones shown in the clips, I would still not go out and just be a statue on a boat.
When it's small long walls you can find the little pockets of energy and move around. Pivot turns, walk forward, isn't that the fun bits??
Bit more size, like the clip of Raglan and a 9'6" log, I'm getting wet thinking about it!!!!

FFS ROY......lighten up mate....have a beer....smoke some weed ...do something!!......just take off that FIG JAM hat and throw it in the fire FFS.....you're talking to people from over the ditch ....they do not give a rats....be humble, and everyone will listen to what you have to say.....you have unassailable credentials in this field, purely by time spent on the design....you just get people offside with your attitude.....so its use the smiley button throw the hat in the fire, and lets have some fun.....or I'm warning you....I'm off to build a sword

I think I like Roy.
Yes, he has a chip on his shoulder, plugs his product where possible, is over critical of other shaper's designs, is over sensitive about criticism of his own shapes & fins, is arrogant, pig headed, thinks everybody else is wrong, thinks he's always right but the Greenroom needs characters. I think I'm a fan.

The Alley Glider..........

surfboardsbygrantnewby.blogspot.com/search?q=Glider

I am yet to be trusted with, I mean surf the timber board, have ridden the fibreglass board and it is the ripple king for smaller days. Want to try on a larger day when the sweep is taking you from one post code to another.

NB: disclaimer / pimp alert - Grant is a mate of mine & has shaped boards for me & other people I know.
