I see on the weather report 5-7 metre waves , severe beach erosion , lifesaver towers toppling into the ocean ,
And was that Lacey I spotted out the back on his 666
You blokes sure are copping some crap weather at the moment .
Funny thing for a lot of Tasmanians the gold coast is their dream destination . Have a mate up there this week camping in a little 2man tent with only his surfboard and a hire pushbike ,
glad I am not him .
a whole of the coast is coping it! I was woken 3 times by the rain last night! The lake looks like it has filled up a bit...coast will get smashed by the seas in the next 24hrs....these types of weather systems are not much fun.
I can barely see the lake at the moment due to the rain and its only 20m away and I am elevated 4m!!!!
GM looks great at the moment, so does the pass & there's only a few guys out...we're getting lazy 1 footers with a wobble...good though, I've got a biopsy that got infected after last weekends waves that needs a chance to heal...have a good one guys
actually went to the alley later and it was dropping off in front me. teatrea was out there but he seemed way out beyond the waves. maybe there were still sneaking sets.
well ne as of tomorrow. looks like it going to get sizey tues/wed.
ene swell and the ne winds.
wtf is going on. its not that time of year. before christmas was.
these close in lows seem to pump out north stuff when they die
Meanwhile down here, the waves are just a mess. Big... but an absolute mess. Getting anything clean up north?
****ty in my area today as well
i got a surf in early thursday before it got too wild at well known mid north coast point break..first time in 25 odd years of surfing there i have seen an actual barrel that spat ..it was almost a serious wave ........surprisingly surfed solo .considering the numbers that sometimes show up for about 3/4 hour ,then one guy came out
next wave i took off on my one of my fins snapped off during a bottom turn
and that was the end of my surf
Inside Newcastle harbour...
www.surfest.com
Open beaches are large and horrible so they moved the WQS comp to what you would call a novelty wave, thing is there's nothing novel about it, it is inside newcastle harbour and breaks not that often over old bits of metal and rocks and gets very hollow on low tide but is very ordinary ATM. The ladies are out there nowadays prob 6 ft ish.
Could go either way later this arvo, the swell is increasing and tide dropping so might get better.
Parko is first heat of the blokes this arvo, bout 1 I'd guess, maybe a touch earlier.
I'd go for a look but spectators are not allowed.. so I'm watching it on tv through the net.
wow - what a spot to hold the comp. I joked this morning at 6am with a few of the old boys down this way that they would hold it there. I surfed that spot 4 or 5 times in the 9 months i lived in Newcastle and had a ball each time. It is a wonderful wave.
For the record its pissing down here still.....just biked home from beers at the cricket club - its 250m and downhill and I got absolutely soaked!!!! Farrrrrk wish the rain would stop or the wind or both
