I am looking to get a mal custom shaped but don't want any of the overpriced / hipster offerings on the Northern Beaches (that being said Australian Surfer HQ in Manly does some lovely Sam Egan customs for a great price).
Can anyone offer up tips on friendly shapers north or south of Sydney who could make me a fun, robust mal?
Would love to support a small business and not have to pay Manly backpacker tax on my new log.

Thanks SP - I would be happy to make you one for significantly less - probably just cost of materials as its just a hobby for me - but unable to commit to anything like that at the moment as my schedule is overflowing. I like the look of the Goddards - held a beauty in my hands just two days ago - shame the surf did not come to the party so I could play on it. There is a bloke in Bondi - Waxa - who makes a nice log - but they are not cheap - check his blog. Toulhurst also makes some lovely boards. Near me on the Central Coast Ken Gardner makes some lovely boards and they are reasonably priced - happily recommend his creations to anyone. gardnersurfboards.com.au/ as does Karl Hassel at Artifact Surfboards - I learnt all I have from these two. Great blokes who make well priced boards.
Give Greg Frost a call..SFD Surfboards in Port Macquarie....hand shaped all the way and well (very well priced). His product is good.!!
