Had a holiday there, years ago, bc (before children) and couldn't believe some of the quality waves there. Great spot for any type of holiday. Yes penal colony.

Someone needs to come up with a plan to make surfing less popular. Things are gonna get crazy if we start seeing Chinese surf travel

I was wondering that too mate. If its not somewhere outside China I think its most likely Sanya, Hainan Island, China. Looks too tropical to be mainland China. If they were prompt with uploading the vid its just come out in the middle of their summer when the season is on there.

COSMIC JUNGLE VIBES

Words by Josh Daniel
Surfer I Josh Daniel
≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈
A cosmic melting pot of colour sound and smell greets you upon arrival to the tear shaped island off the south coast of India, the sensory overload is intense to say the least however unlike many destinations this side of the equator Sri Lankan’s maintain a undeniable dignified, calm demeanor making one feel instantly at home.I am staying in Ahangama, on the south coast its one of three or four towns that act as the epicentre for this coast's surf season which runs from november through april. Working for a surf and Yoga retreat called Sunshine Stories, life is simple, we operate from an old colonial villa set back in the jungle away from the hustle and noise that comes with the sea front. It’s very different but very amazing. The waves are consistent, the water is warm and the people humble yet friendly, its people are what amaze me most, both local and stranger. We had the privilege to host The Neverland Boys a group from Australia who came and enjoyed the jungle with us for a week. These pictures are taken and this video is filmed between Weligama and Hikkaduwa and are captured on 35mm and digital by the following; Peter Adams, Petter Toremalm, Sunshinestories and The Neverland Boys. They capture the cosmic jungle vibes we live day to day.Special thanks to :
