Was going to post this in the 'where did you surf today' thread but thought it deserved it's own.
Some amazing waves in Cronulla today, rarely breaking waves such as Phantoms and Osborne Shoal were both breaking and the Island & Point were firing on all cylinders.
Point held their monthly comp with some super steep take off's on the lower tide.
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera set up with me and only an iPhone however I shot some off which I hope shows it as it was.
Be great to see some other shots from up and down the coast added by fellow breezers.
Wow sick pic's bro, some serious waves there
I need a board that can handle those conditions. I would of been getting hung up & thrown over the falls
Great pics SA,just been into town and watching and talking with Bob Brown and it's Huuuge to,no pics sorryI should have takin some
I was on dayshift today and out in it and it was pretty big down here. I'll have to learn how to upload pics
Thanks guys.
Surprised at how few took both Point & Island on to be honest, who knows how good Cape Solander & Voodoo were today too ?
Some clubbies took on Island and it really illustrated the size.
One lost his board from Phantoms (north peak of Island) and it washed through to Point which is amazing that it pushed through a big deep gutter and I can honestly say I've never seen a clean link that far through.
I'm calling it 8-10 feet with 12 feet sets
8-10 feet with 12 feet sets, good call mate. The 3rd reef way out here was breaking todayThat rarely happens!...
Cronulla Surfing Reserve posted these tonight. Matt Griggs and unknown out Suck Rock / Voodoo / Merries Reefs way I suspect.
Great pics SA..The point is really something when it's on fire.
BTW..any guesses as to who this young Breezer is taking on the Point in the 60's

Go Lance Go !
Yeow.
Massive slabs rolling in most of the night could hear the roar clearly - and was lucky enough to score some absolute howlers , whole bay erupting at Big A (and it was big A) ..... way out to sea probably 10 to 15 kms out they were breaking on the horizon it's that big out deep
Amazing stuff incredible at times hey but sadly the wind is arcing up & hampering things
All Newcastle beachs are off the chain. Big balls only please.

It's still pumping down here today with a 20kt + offshore on it . Not quite as big as yesterday but still pretty solid.
had one big bastard come in straighter across the point rocks & I have to admit I nearly shat myself how large it welled up so quickly , it broke off to the right a bit & I got over the back somehow that saved my arse from a lot of hurt
But that just meant I had to go on the one behind it no other choice but big hurt otherwise geez
Still some big ones here too.
The Point was ruffled and not itself but The Island was off the hook.
Took many photos which need editing but here's a taste;
awesome pics gentlemen. hey surfanimal, the guy on the inside in pics three, four and five at the top of the page.... did he make it?
