Bugger, Vuelo is for light weights. I've got a fireball I bought from the same shop 5 years ago and it's in its last legs. It has been an awesome board to learn on and is still my go to board for all conditions. I will continue to be on the look out.

I saw the board today as a finished shape. Looking very sexy with some sweet curves. I am very happy with the extra width because it has avoided making it too gunny. Nice pulled in tail though, so it should hold when it it is four times overhead. The bottom is largely flat with a subtle vee running out the tail from 2-2 1/2 feet up. Very very mild. I asked him why a vee bottom and why like that and his reply was "Because it's so reliable." Reliable sounds good. Anyway, the seven foot version holds in superbly so he must be doing something right with his foil, rocker and other curves. I do wonder where I will stand to ride it and suspect I may be shuffling up and down the board. With the seven footer I tend to stand right back - it's just what I do - but it has been ten years since I have ridden a board over 7'8" so I am wondering if the extra length will matter. Perhaps not. I used to stand on the tail of the 7'8", but I am not even sure if that's where I am meant to be.

Two weeks to glass and sand, another week or two of curing (i wait until the stench of resin is only barely noticeable)...sigh....a ride report is still weeks away.

Picked it up on Wednesday. I can't wait to get it to a Bombie tomorrow. The glass has been on two and a half weeks, even if the gloss coat went on last Monday. Here are some pics next to its little 7 foot brother.

And a quiver shot. These are the ones I surf regularly. The most frequently surfed are the red twinny, the seven foot singly, and the yellow 7'2". Obviously the longboard and 8 footer are late additions.

Just posted the basics. I was editing while you were typing. The tail is 13 1/2 I think and the nose is 11. It is his own propriety rocker but I will post a rocker and foil shot tomorrow. The Eagles are about to start.

The board bags are off to the side.

These were the ones I surf regularly. There are some other bursters in the shed. The high performance gear for certain waves, other towns with less power, or when I am fitter.
