I have ordered a new mid length. Weiry and Mac will love this thread.

7' x 21.5 x 3

I contacted a 3 local shapers. Two gave me kind of average responses. The third man called me that night. I told him what I wanted. He told me it wouldnt work and gave me all his reasons.

That was all I needed. Figured I could trust a man who has been shaping in SA since 1966.

Will have it in 3 weeks.

Booo yahhhh

Nice work brother?

Who's the shaper? Will you be getting a Big Mac Memorial Tint in honor of the great man and his contribution to the mini mal genre?

Thanks Tux, Rodney "Weasel" Bedford. No fancy tints on this one, cant afford that plus I just like regular boards no tints.

Andy,

I was holding out on a Miller until Weasel told me that a SUBX type boards doesn't work well in SA and listed the reasons why. Everyone says support your local shaper so I figured why not support a guy who has been in the SA surfing community for close to 50 years.

To be honest don't even know how its going to look, am putting 100% faith in him.

Very exciting.

Thanks Vanders, it's funny how your opinions change once you start speaking to people. In my head I had pretty much made up my mind with who I wanted to make me a board. Weasel's knowledge of the local conditions and knowing what would realistically work for me was priceless.

So what was said about the Miller not being suitable for SA conditions viewing Vanders board I can't see anything wrong other than taking it out at Pipe

Nothing so much wrong with the Miller more just maybe not the best board for what I was looking for.

I wanted something duck divable and for when waves get 3 foot plus.

Weasel told me if I wanted duck divable something with more of a pointy nose will help, he told me to pull in the tail a bit and that a two plus one configuration probably isnt the best. A traditional thruster generally works more for a our local conditions.

Basically I think it will be more like a Miller Waterskate but I am totally leaving it upto him. Will set up with FCS Fin system and Shapers Fins as he believes they are the best on the market.

When you don't know a whole lot about surfboards like you guys you have to put your trust in those who do. Which is exactly what I have done.

Funny you ask Mac, taking a few days off to do a final clean and move in Thursday. Very exciting. I have been at it for almost a year.

Pics to come this week.

I figured I have busted my gut and sacrificed this year and what better way to celebrate then with a new board.

Good move Mc..A SbuX def not a ducker...Waterskate is hard to push under as well...but being a local with mega years of shaping (all shapers have their own quirks/preferences) he will deliver the goods..

Enjoy your new toy
