mate down the road got an old 60s Mal for 50 bucks at a garage sale a few weeks back .
offered the bloke 25 bucks thinking it was worth around 500 .
the seller said sorry mate thats too cheap , he is thinking here we go , comes back with 50 bucks sound good . yep still laughing about it
so this is the 150$ barry bennet 63'
9'4 x 22 x unknown
Billy Mclean is doing a fair bit of the restore work for us, he removed hte fin last night
the the board in the 70's was taken back to Barry bennets factory they then replaced it with a D fin, then some A HOLE cut the ****ing thing into some sorta dolphin fin
so we are replacing it
a Ron surfboard from 62
these things were pop out boards that went into outlet shops, they were export quaility thou whihc is funny because aussies poo poo'ed them but the hawiians and americans loved them
this baord was a 1 off because of the asymmetrical stringer. it was confirmed from owner that he bought it from a shaper from ron as it was the shapers board, the interesting thing is Geoff McCoy started his career shaping for Ron surfboards, this board is numbered like 351 which suggests it would have been made in the first yr. so one day we are hoping to ask geoff if this is his board
its 9'2 by 22, ****ing heavy ass board at 16kg, the missus catches me on my 12ft this thing flys
and got a massive split end chop strand fin in it which according to Bob you cannot buy the material to even make them anymore :)
this is prob the most amazing board from the bunch
its a 9 ft by 22 x 3 Jackson surfboard, now this thing was 30 yrs before its time why because it has a nose concave that runs down to half way, it has chimes which you find on a McT fireball and were only used recently in the last 15-20 yrs. The most amazing thing about this is the person who owned it belived it was shaped by the famous bobby brown. We showed this to Bob Mct and he reckons this board came to him just befroe the short board revolution and he replied this is amazing "but im about to come out with something that will take over" he actually remembers seeing this board because it was so unusual
Matty Chon had a go of it before Noosa festival and said it was the best 60's old mal he has ever ridden, Dave english tried to steal this board from us HAHA he absolutely loved it
Bob McTs Batman board ( not this isnt ours ha)
this thing is amazing its so HEAVY, its has a ridiculously rolled belly on it , unlike anything i have ever seen
such a nice board, first ever involvement. Shaped, glassed, and fin made all in one night by bob
