Just in from a late session at work hoping to make time for a mid week wave in the morning. Today was a 2 hour trip home .at this hour the trip is usually based on a least one coffee stop but tonight I ve chucked 2 away. The second one was maccas based on the theory, 'it's not much but you know what you're getting' but still too crap to drink.
Any great coffee stops that are useful info for a road trip out there. I mean for a road trip not your favourite post surf haunt.
$1 coffee from the shell servo.
Taste better than Maccas swill, it's not great but for a $1 when nothing else is open it does the job...
Asea's trick is to buy a cheap coffee and add a nip of rum, tells me it fires him up for his session.
Great segue for a pimp. Soul Boardstore do the best coffee on the coast. Just on Saturdays and have a great selection of 70's and 80's surf mags to flip through.
Just have a red ambulance - no need for a coffee Make sure you get the traditional shaped can - not the new long think ones as they do not fit well in the drinks holder in the car.
That's the back of the current troopy. It's an ex work car that has done it's share - 24 years old / 530,000 km, but it doesn't matter if salt water drips on it and rusts it out.
Engel fridge, ROK coffee maker, take thermos for hot water, but might be about to upgrade to a gas stove.
Everything is in it, boards live on roof, hang gear in car. Helmy can confirm after about 20 years of sailing I am very bad at rinsing / hanging out wetsuits etc.
Hang the stuff in the car every morning, all good next day.
Wash stuff occasionally.
Coffee maker makes very good expresso shot - I water down and add milk, but you can do what you like.
I finish on water, board on roof (hence small ladder) banana for breakfast and coffee.
Day starts well.
Maybe we need a surfwagon thread?
But a road trip to Soul Boardstore is looking attractive.....
That's wicked mate - great little self sufficient set of wheels ... and yeah who cares about the KM's .... run it to the ground
The new Board Culture....the place is looking super good, and the coffee is supposedly good now...just need beer on tap to make me happy
