This time next week it'll be just about time for a Bintang and a shoulder rub.
Banks look to be in reasonable shape too.

Looking forward to it mate, taking a book I've been struggling to find the time for, plan to surf six hours a day and not do too much else.
I reckon I've had less than five decent surfs since I got back in October last year, it's been such a prick of a summer.

Still tossing up whether to head to Balian or hit the east coast, it's been years since I've surfed Keramas but it just looks like such a circus now.
Love Tanjungs at Sanur but hate the locals, love Serangan but there's no accommodation there that I can find.

I'd like to be somewhere that's walking distance from surf and not party central. Only got eight nights so not really time to island hop...

Any input appreciated. Mick? Ted? Mac?

The best thing to do is check what the swell is doing a few days out and go from there. If light winds and small swell Balian is a good choice. If it's bigger go east. Avoid the big K unless you like crowds. You will be able to get super deep on your board though. Mick is probably emailing you the same spots I would be

Heaps of waves on the south side. Good place to base yourself as well. Will drop you an email later.

Wanna book a van, it's turned into a boys trip so I'll need room for a few boards.

Cheers!!!

I've just sent a group text to the three of them so it'll be interesting to see how they respond if they know there's three players in the market. Will they compete or collude?

lol..just go with whoever answers first. Airport to Sanur is about $15 - $20. If your going further, up to $25. I usually pay $25 for 4 hours, $40 for 8 & 50k Rp for each hr over 8..If you want them daily for 7 or 8 days, $40 or $45 for 10 hours if they're mainly just chilling without the car running waiting for you to finish surfing.

if all else fails, this guy is rock solid and an absolute gentleman. Very mellow He's da man. Best we've had in nearly 30 years traveling there.

Looks like the water quality hasn't gotten any better, that river is a cess pit.

Yeah it's certainly not like their NE coastal streams, couldn't believe how clear and full of life they were up that way last year. Reminded me of the JP streams I used to fish around Innisfail.
It'd be interesting to take a trip upstream in the Balian to see what it's like.

There's a heap of villages further up dumping their poo in so you'd have to go a fair way to find any decent water. All the development up the hill over the last 10 years hasn't helped much either. Still well worth the occasional ear infection though

Love that place, was there this time last year. That drone footage takes me back there!

Had an epic trip, scored awesome waves with a reasonable crowd. Had a few really big days and one day was just too big so we headed up to a point break to the North, sketchy drive but worth it!

I kept wondering why no one was going right then I got one all the way in as I got too greedy....ended up right in front of the River - yuk!

About 6-8 k's up stream there's a dam and above that it looks pretty pristine. Keep on meaning to go for a look but it means bringing fishing gear over too and that would just be asking for trouble.
