Have just had 2epic surfs in a row...the first on my firewire longboard in waist to shoulder high crystal blue water peeling rights. The second was was on my shorty in overhead a frame peaks with a super strong offshore wind the just seemed to groom the swell onto perfection. Got me thinking how lucky we are to live in the surf filled island at the bottom of the world.
With all the seriousness of the shark debates in the other forums and people getting upset in this one...I thought why not create a share the stoke forum. So there you go...what gets ya stoked ... ??

I suspect he'd be be back in town again soon.

On the subject of "stoke" I pick up a new board this weekend, I hope.

Just checked and it was in mid of Feb - almost year ago!! I shall give him a call tom and sees if he is coming down again. From memory though I think he was overseas at some point soon. Maybe this time we can get Scotty to come along as well. Hope your new board goes well. Who is making it?

It will be another SSD, but a different shaper, I got lucky last time with all the strange measurements I asked for, but it did work really well, so I hope I'm lucky again.

The shaper has already commented that it looks very weird on the stand because of the nose width I asked for, but I told the guy from SSD that if it does not work, it's entirely my fault for asking for those dims.

This time I making sure it's clear, because I ding boards and fixing a clear is much easier than a colour, but I am getting a few extras, I'm going with the half inch T band stringer again, because it worked so well in the last board,, plus I'm getting a Volans deck and fin patch.

Great post oldmate. Love it!

What gets me stoked is paddling out when it is pumping six foot and offshore, obviously. More so is paddling out and chatting to everyone and doing it for hours.

I love getting up at about six, surfing to around 11, no matter the conditions and having a chat to all the locals out there. That is the beauty of Tassie, if there is a crowd, you know everyone so the atmosphere is just fantastic. Super fun when it is 6-8 feet and the old guys are out there charging, more amped than us grommies.

Spending time with the other surfers is what I think is the best, it is so great, I can talk to someone who is 60 or 70, have nothing in common save for surfing, and chat to them as freely as if there was no age gap at all...

Anyone comes down to Tassie, be sure to give me a buzz!

Stayed stoked guys!

Tom.
