Kombis are too old school for me these days Simondo - drove one around europe many moons ago. Broke a clutch cable just outside Montecarlo on some back road. As luck would have there was a VW convention down the road and a few of them stopped to help out - towed us back to their campsite - had loads of things fixed on it whilst me and girls drunk beers and wine and talked crap. Great few days These days I prefer something with air con, good fuel economy and suspension
MR still loves them
I love my courier, would die without a 4x4, fuel economy isn't great but better than most utes, only a 4cyl 2.5L Turbo Diesel but does the job! Nothing better than driving along the beach for kms for a surf!
my hilux SR5 is the ducks nuts
but i would swap it in a flash for the wifes toyota cruiser
its a great 4x4
Reading VW are releasing a new Kombi next year , supposed to cost between 30 -40 grand .looks the bees knees with a turbo motor should go a tad quicker then the older versions .Wifey reckons I should upgrade but don't think I could ever part with Rhonda .
I see what you mean ...... yeah it must be pretty easy to mistakenly take the wrong keys each morning
Hey weiry I heard on the news the other night there's been a massive recall on the cruiser due to a leak in fluid that ignites the tries which explodes into flames, check it out mate!

Cooooooooool
after 24 years and 530,000 km it's a bit late to recall it for anything
Never too late to change whats on the racks though
heres the new version of the kombi , looks pretty good , interiors much like the old one with a fold down bed , hard to bed as a surf / camping car
Incredible!! From his 1970 interview
What?s going to happen to board design in the future?
Tell you what I think. Boards will be strapped on and shorter. You?re still going to need flotation and paddling, but once you?re up and riding, you?re going to be riding similar to water skiing. I?ve tried being towed into a wave on a board, like a water skier; waves could be ridden that way right now! It would be insane. Riding with your feet strapped down, you could do unbelievable stuff. You could fly. Instead of hitting the lip and letting it bring you back down, you could just hit the lip and just fly over sections.
Actually leave the water? You wouldn?t be connected to the wave?
Oh no! Not at all!
MR still loves them
Too true Ted, mine was cheap. To buy, it's cheap to fix and it may be slow, but gts better fuel economy than my Touareg. Not as good as the brother's Amorok though.
The best thing about it is that it can carry my dinghy to the yacht, can put me up for the night and when I surf, all my gear is there without having to load the car with boards, wetties and stuff.
I also doubt I'll get a speeding ticket in the near future! Oh, and it has power steering and air con, well the air con doesn't work at the moment, but it is there for when I decide to get it going.
Two good ones in 2 days
.
The two tone in Sandringham looked very nicely done.
The camper in Williamstown I would love to look at in more detail.
That new combi looks siiiiiiiiiiiiick...
Always been a hilux man but the Triton diesel 4x4 ute leaves em for dead. Awesome on juice, drives like a sedan on long drives but mostly... The back window slides down!!! So I can fit the 10'er across the tray and through the window, so no freakin racks!! So good
