When I can I watch a bit of this clip before I go for a surf. It really puts me in the right frame of mind.
Would this be a near perfect example of longboarding?

Mac, I am appalled you would be so savage on a poor Tourettes sufferer twitching all over the place. ??

Smooth....I like people who look smooth and slow even when they aren't; he looked like an epileptic chicken. And he didn't have a legrope...

But you would have to admit, he knows how to ride a longboard

Hmm ..yes he can surf, but its not a clip that inspired me.
Jerky, looked he was trying to make stuff out of waves that was not there (what was all that funny head dipping stuff??)
and the bits where he fell off, and lost his board edited out, hmmm not for me.

and @thedrip .... "epileptic chicken"....nearly spat my coffee out ...could not have described better

Smooth is the new fast

Watch Tudor. He is the best...

Someone told me once about riding a LB that
it's not what you do but how you do it..

Sorry bro have to echo others...& kinda annoyed me how he was racing out onto the shoulder to try & attack a couple of guys sharing his tiny crumbly waves. I call party wave on those kinda waves, sharing can be great fun & was very common in the past. Also rarely see someone falling off so often doing simple stuff.

My favourite video is one I think SP posted about 2 years ago. Bloke was really mixing it up, cross stepping for some nice nose rides & switch footing on foam rebounds & direction changes. Have been meaning to find it again, might be in the "more longboarding" thread or an earlier thread.

Ok I thought fark it, I'll look coz its only 24 pages to ctrl F through, I know I commented on the switchfooting coz its something I've been developing in my own surfing. But all I could find was a video I posted a couple of years ago. I don't think this is the one, my memory remembers something even better & must have been posted in another thread somewhere more than 2 years ago. But I'll post this one anyway...& one I found along the way that I remember really impressed me for not only the impressive surfing, but the epic video capture pov

Style is subjective, but for me, i'm not a fan of that Vid at all. I prefer minimal and functional rather than exaggeration.

For Me, Al Knost, Wingnut, Tudor, Midget Farrely, Nat Young, Kelia Moniz, Karina Rozunko and this guy...

I reckon it was coltapinto. Will look in a minute..

Mean while this is as good as it gets for me..

No rail bogs. Nice nose rides, very good foot work, great turns and Minimal movements. Hands are always in a good position too.

The clip says it better then I can describe.

Smooth as butter

Love that Toots clip aswell.. but in the end each to their own. Surf how you want.. More about a feeling then looking a certain way.

I am sorry Steve, i am no authority on this so my opinion counts for ****.... BUT...

The funniest thing about this thread are the comments.

I suffer from physical and verbal tourettes so i identified with it really well.

On the plus side....i will pretty much watch anything and he can surf.

Simplistically i guess i have always associated longboarding with long rides and lots of fun. If i can catch 2-3 footers out the back and ride them to the beach i will be a happy man.

Saw Beau Young surfing 2 foot wind slop one day. He made it look so good. His style and balance was absolute gold to watch. Did I mention that the waves were crap!

HOLY CRAP, I have never seen many longboard videos as I grew up on a short board. Those videos you guys posted are "off the chain". I did not know they even existed. Hell, I cant believe they can ride like that.
Interesting........so its little cross over steps up to the nose. Thats part of my problem. At 95kgs running up there like a hairy goat does not work.
That Beau Young clip gave me a little boner :)

That is a great vid, super fun looking wave, but nah. The one I'm thinking of the bloke was surfing waves about head high & doing lots of switchfooting during his cutbacks/foam rebounds. Like going right standing natural, switching on cutback rebounding off the foam & switching back as he turned to go right again. Real lanky looking bloke with an interesting style, not much trimming apart from the noserides. Its not in the more longboarding thread, it must be buried somewhere else. I reckon it will turn up eventually
