The Chinese Invasion and the Double Edged Sword

Ok come'on thats a farking sick title lol...I will have to expand on it on surferblogs.com later on when I get home with some pics n sh1t

Personal memory triggers to possibly expand upon, bananas, crab sounds, hello security, green/blue, lifetime PM, fins vs trucks = superglue, BS & more BS...

The Chinese have made a big impact on SE Asia & its pissing me off. While our government had simply given away our money & I mean you & mine. China has been making some serious inroads everywhere & we havn't seen farkall said till Scott Morrison recently mentioned hey maybe we should stop sending so much money to china & step them up into the hey your doing all right category. You might have missed it though coz he was with Trump & most mainstream media wanna go on about the BS Global weather change, formally known as Global warming before the science showed many parts of the world were actually cooling & those islnads up North were actually growing not sinking...but anyway I digress and I need another JW & coke, back in a tick...

Still reading, cheers bro/sis I don't like to give this sh1t away for free, gotta throw in some anti lefty inpolitically correct truth'isms to add some kinda balance

So what's all this BS about you ask, whats so special about the title A few years back it was announced china was investing in a Balinese development to expand on Serangan Island. There was Eco opposition citing danger to the surrounding mangroves environment. Well this could well be old news to some of you coz it looks like its well underway. I could see the expansion yesterday driving down the toll road to Sanur where I'm staying for 12 days. They're dumping rocks & limestone sand/rubble to enlarge the island for a future gold course, a bit like that military zone they're creating off the coast of the Phillipines which used to just be reef.

The development has closed the road down to the main Serangan surfspot which was Plan A for me this morning & I couln't be farked with Plan B. So an alternative route involving 2 mangrove canal crossings I'm hoping my probiotics will cover me for & a long walk along limestone tracks dodging 2 sets of security payed off. Just as I was looking out at the waves thinking, ok that looks super fun a breeze kicks in, but I soon realized it was directly offshore & light maybe a few knts.

Scored some fun Head 1/2 long wally rights with 3 cutback & 3 racey sucky peaky sections running for about 150m on my own for 3hrs in a place that would usually have surf schools rocking up within the last hour before I bailed. Felt like a fully successful adventure right in the heart of Bali. Might hit Plan B tomorrow, dunno...cheers if ya made it this far

Great report Mick, especially as it sounds like you are looking through the bottom of a empty duty free bottle of grog by the sounds of it

Keep up the good work

Cheers

Old turtle island serangan..... it was sooooo magic to surf this joint in my early twenties, even when they first built the bridge over crew didn't really know,,,, but now it's chaos absolute chaos.
good work doing the stealth and mangrove walk, to have it to yourself nowadays half decent for half an hour is worth at least two leech bites a sea urchin spike, a stubbed toe and a little bit of floating poo to access it.
well played sir...
The Chinese have their hands in everywhere and it sucks cause if they build the roads the government gives them land..
If you look at ulus and even nusalembongan more than half the resorts are now Chinese owned........
There in the Maldives and have done most of the development on male as well with no doubt a few sweetheart deals...
It would be all good if the local crew became millionaires but that certainly is far from the case......

Ten years from now all our food will be on consignment sales overseas and if we can get a mango or advocado it will be upwards of ten bucks a piece

Hey Mick

Drop into Titties Warung at Semawang Beach and ask Putu to take you out in Titties Taxi
Way easier than the mangrove route

Cheers

Thanks mate, I was going to ask the girl called "Martin" at Bobby's Warung today where I've eaten lunch the last few days but was worried asking where "Titties" warung is could make me look like a bit of a perv lol

I'm going to go back to the place I've surfed the last 2 days, really fun with the occasional barrel, very few crew given its off season & swells kicking for the weekend so I've got plans for that. I will pop into titties tomorrow to chat to Putu if poss. Place I surfed has had crew on it the last couple of days when I've had lunch, so boat operation hours prob a factor & doubt anyones gonna get going early for one client. Serangan boaties said min 2 people & prob still not cheap. Blokes I chatted to this morning, Julian & Poto said heaps of people are hitting it by boat. Guess the old dawny plus a lil luck had me surfing alone there a few days ago. Was funny those guys surfed with Steve & Luke from our hometown yesterday. They flew over almost the same time as me on a rival airline & are staying up the coast a bit.

To anyone else reading....I typed up a pretty long blog yest but lost it to an internet dropout at send. Feeling pretty surfed out today to type too much, will try again tomorrow. Always kook out not copy/pasting from notepad when I'm in Bali. Since I'm surfing the same place 3 times in a row it will be better to compact it all down a bit anyway...cheers

No worries m8, will post them up to surferblogs.com when I get home. I'm just using my missus point & click this trip coz I'm solo & wasn't comfy leaving my good gear unguarded in the places I knew I'd be going. But I reckon todays pics should come out ok.

Given up on writing more towards this thread. My little laptop had a windows update just before I went away & has been running like a piece if sh1t. I typed up a big story about epic waves on sanur reef on notepad, but because it was so long I decided to plug in a mouse to ©/paste. It froze the computer & I waited hours for it to come good with a few ctr/alt/del thrown in to try n free it up but she was farked. Mighta been ok with a ctrl shift ctrl c/v instead but too late. Gonna fark windows off it & swap in linux when I get home. Too thrustrating, wasted about 90 mins twice this trip.

End of thread....
