Hi guys n girls, I'd like your opinions on the best cities in Aus for surfing.

I live in Perth so mainly surf metro breaks with trips North and South when I can.
I know the surf in Perth isn't great but the proximity of housing and the city to the coast and low(ish) traffic means that I can surf before work most days (less consistent surf in the summer, but you get the picture).

I'm wonder where everyone thinks the best city would be for surfing - consistent breaks, close to the city and suburbs so that you can surf on weekdays, with the option to travel to better less crowded breaks at the weekend. I should mention that I work as a mechanical engineer so I would struggle finding work in smaller towns, so looking for cities only. Recently I've been looking at the Gold Coast, but don't know if in reality everywhere has its downsides.

Ok here we go fitter and skipper of boats by trade
It started in 95
6 months in indo but couldn't work would buzz back to Aussie to get passport stamped when I had too. It was good there in the 90,s
96-97 year on fishing boats cashing up surfing offshore reefs west oz phenomenal.
from there it was fish 7 months and try towns of aus for waves and live ability

brunswick heads and Goldie got work all off season not bad but the crowds were ridiculous
next offseason was Lennox and angourie I retry good but no work really really good waves.

port mquarie sort of worked the following year off season retry special
did a stint at rotto for a year and a half lived on the island that was the best ever.... ever.....

The problem is is with your trade you could realistically get a job any one of these places. But it wouldn't pay the city wages, now though with some mobs doing wfh it's possible.

As in work in dunsborough or live in vasse and commute buy a 400k house and yes the wages are not as good but you would score a grade uncrowned waves for 8-10 months of the year.

The east coast is over rated rarely gets to 4-6 foot and when it does it's an absolute zoo nowadays.

down south you get that every week or every other week
Take a pay drop and get as close a job to an a grade wave as possible
