I noticed my boardies were getting a bit old recently & wanted to get some for a trip to Bali. Checked around the usual places & was surprised how much boardies had gone up in the last couple of years. Was like ok Hurlies US to Oz exchange rate could explain for highly priced pieces of Hurley cloth. But a local company was gouging almost as high. The winter specials you'd expect brought them down to what I'd expect the non sale retail to be. Must all be made in US Chinese factories or something

I ended up going to the Bali surf outlet stores along Ngurah Rai bypass road & grabbing a couple of Rip Curl Mirage boardies with good stretchy fabric for $30 each. The ripsurl store was the best out of the lot.

But anyway I just got this email from surline offering me a 30% discount on Kelly Slater's boardies range. I thought over $100 was ridiculous...no thats cheap apparently, Kelly's are $268 or ok just under $200 with a coupon code wtf

I've had a pair of quicksilver ones for over 10 years and are still trucking along. I've had cheap pairs before and they generally tear or don't fit properly. They were exy from memory, about $70-$80.
Saying that, I got a free pair that are about the same age from a Australian Surfing life subscription that are hurly from memory and are still going strong.
I think they are a bit like a wetty, you get what you pay for. I guess you will get replies saying cheap is good but that's not my experience.

I can't justify it. Sadly, the billabong knock-offs I got in Bali 20 years ago (for bugger all) have had their day. I need some more t-shirts too. Sounds like a trip to Bali might save me money!

I get mine from Aldi $10 a pair wear them for work as well and they'll last 2 years before they end up a bit dodgy. other options is when Im on the Goldy i go to the factory outlets and get em for around $20,- $30 cant justify paying around $100 plus for boardies.

Geez always just missing ya Ricardo. I got back 2 weeks ago & heading back over at the end of September. Not sure where I'm headed though, have entertained ideas of Gland & Deserts. But will probably just stay in Sanur & head up or down the East coast depending on swell size.

...2 pairs of Quiksilver Boardies were just getting a bit old before the last trip until Bingin & low tide Balangan finished them off
The last season Rip Curl Mirage seem just as good for $30 as the latest release boardies that were full retail over there for $70 to $90. Real nice stretchy material & zipper pockets.

Seriously, $268!!!!! for boardies or even over $100 LOL really, they're that good? Come'on

If we all stop buying those ridonkulous priced ones they gotta go " whoa hey hang on geez!!!" But then again girls pay $200 for 1/4 less material....not complaining unless I'm paying
