Here is a little amateur gopro edit I made of this fun little place we surfed in the south Mentawai's earlier this month . Over the three days we spent in the area this was the smallest day but perfect conditions and we were the only boat there when we woke up . It was filmed on high tide at about 7am.
It was just fantastic being in the middle of nowhere , with only 5 other mates out
Hope you like it

Nice score mate - I think that wave is sometimes called discos.

Many of those waves bottom tip of the ments are still uncrowded. Some of the indo boats don't like to spend the fuel to get down there and will try to persuade their guests to start north of Pagai and surf from Macca's up to Playgrounds!

Yea mate that is true. It is very raw and remote down there. I wasn't aware but cannibalism is still quite frequent in a couple of places Im told. We only went as far north as HT's and it was starting to get busy . It was different in the water though , everyone was taking turns (unless the Brazo's were out).

Im keen to start organising another trip

Haha, the Brazo's can be pretty hard work out there, unless you're a guide - Aussies tend to want uncrowded waves, so 12 dudes already on a wave is too many, and they'll want to check somewhere else. With Brazo guests, you can rock up to a lineup with 30 guys already in the water and they are frothing to get out there and are happy to scrap and hassle for everything.

I've also rocked up to an empty lineup with a Brazo crew, and they've wanted to run heats to determine who was the best surfer on the trip.

They are a weird lot, aren't they...

To be honest mate its probably looking more like the year after . I would only go with Doris again I reckon - the guy is pretty much the main man up there and he is almost booked out for next year plus I will need to do a decent family holiday somewhere first Im thinking . This is my simple strategy so I can confirm my leave pass
