There was a couple of kinda interesting things about my last trip to Bali. One was the morning I though jeez it sounds windy outside until I realized the bed was shaking & it wasn't morning glory. There was an earthquake that went for almost a minute. We were like wtf, oh uhh ok better get under a doorway.

The other thing is represented in Slim's last post on Baliwaves.com if you look through the pics. Notice anything strange?

lol Balangan get its share Buster

But yeah JB, in the past there was the odd guy wearing a wettie you might see on a trip. But this year there are so many, its crazy. I'll admit it might get a little chilly cruising out on a boat at dawn when ya wet. But your fine after a couple of waves. There are guys wearing wetties in the middle of the day, it trips me out...seem vids recently with Nathan Florence, Koa Rothman & Jamie Obrien all wearing wetties in Bali. This phenomenon is nound to get worse LOL.....or maybe it will be great, people will slow down coz they're so hot

We stayed on the Bukit in July & it wasn't as hot as it can get, about 24c. But it felt perfect to me.

Where'd you surf Gus? And are you originally from Qld?

Born and breed in the west mate

beachies around Seminyak Kuta reefs out to changu and ulus. Typical Bali trip. Good waves around the beaches and Kuta reefs very uncrowned surfed by myself a few times. Changu was a bit crowded

Just got back a cpl weeks ago water was great no wetsuit needed caangu is a zoo now as it's hipster central and the place to be seen which is fine as it drags all the crowds from other spots which were very mild crowd wise. Got heaps of swell mb a bit too much for some spots we surfed but again kept the crowds at bay.Heading back in March and will check out the east coast a bit more, still a great place for a quick warm water surf fix.I did notice it's lost that hazy smoke and cloves smell of the past which I miss

It had been a long time between drinks in Bali for me. I was shocked how built up it had become. Seems like there was a rush on to build as many walls as possible. That said we had a great time. Heaps of warm water surf and cold beers on the beach. Always something happening. Booked again for this year
