Surf trips are expensive. I'm doing a day trip on Saturday and all my mates have piked. I've probably got one spare seat. Leaving ~6am. Returning sometime in the arvo or maybe evening. Sometimes I can surf for 8 hours, sometimes 3. Depends on conditions etc. so be prepared to sit on the beach and read a book etc. if you're not fit or motivated. On the other hand, if I get bored and you want to stay, I'm going and you're hitching. You've all seen the forecasts so you all know where I'm going. Probably some others from here will be there too.
Meet time: I'm leaving my house by 6am, so I'll pick you up whenever I reach yours *.
Bring: surf equipment. I've got heaps of room so you can probably take two boards if you have to. A bucket or tub for wet stuff (or use mine). Sunscreen or whatever. A hat if you're going to be sitting around.
Food and drink: I will have a fridge and will take snags, bread, sauce and a BBQ for lunch (maybe salad etc). Bring whatever drinks you like, there's enough room. I don't care if you drink beer, but if you get messy that's not on. I will probably take some breakfast for me, take your own or get up early and eat beforehand. Tell me what you want to bring and I'll decide which fridge to take (big or small).
Don't be offended if I hate you and don't talk to you. I'm antisocial. Could be a long drive. There'll be someone else to talk to though. Another "internet friend".
I don't care if you can or can't surf, but I don't particularly want people who don't know etiquette. Things that will be frowned on include paddling for the shoulder when someone's on a wave. Wear it. On the other hand, I'm a wave hungry pig and can be aggressive in the water. I doubt it's going to be competitive though. In fact, I'm going to this place to avoid crowds and I'm generally much more easy going when there are a handful of people. I am a product of Perth's more competitive locations though, so I have a certain mindset.
I don't care if you ride a booger, surf, or goat boat. No SUPs or mals though. Nothing against them, but I can't be fscked strapping them to the roof at 6am. Boards etc will fit in the car. Actually, if you can convince me you can tie it on quickly, then no problem. I'll be sitting in the warm car though.
I don't care if you're 20 or 60. I'm somewhere in the middle, as is the other passenger.
I don't want to have to rescue anyone so you should be capable enough. Having said that, it's hardly going to be 6'. More like 3'-4' if you're lucky. Probably smaller.
I won't fsck around when I get there. I don't want to drive all day. Anything half reasonable will be game on. If you don't like where I'm paddling out, bad luck. If you have a reliable secret spot in the neighbourhood, we can check it out. I generally check a couple of spots and that's it.
Fuel donations appreciated. Costs me about $75 + food to do this trip. My motivation to extend the invitation isn't to share set waves, it's to help out with an expensive trip. But you never know, I'm capable of friendly conversation and general anti-SUP banter. If you can't contribute then that's no problem at all - I would've gone alone anyway and we are all poor at one time or another.
Send PMs to avoid embarrassment when I refuse to take you. If I don't answer, I've already filled the spot. I'll update this thread when that happens. Preference given to long term members who I've got a feel for. suba is allowed as long as he snaps a board.
Zuke gets first preference, but he might not want it in the interests of privacy.

+1 - always a great read - even when unintended. Hope you and your travel buddies score... I'd like to hear the post trip report!
Bugger. If I weren't too late, and moving house over the weekend, I'd have ben as keen as custard. Haven't had a surf trip in aaaages.
I actually saw a few people out at Tearooms last storm cycle in boardies. None of them suba though. Bigger nuts than me, but. Mostly brazzo and pommie tourists it seemed.
No SUP forum for me, which is a shame as I've just got the latest yellow Mana Coreglide Hawaianaialaina 16'er and have been ripping it up out at Trigg Point. Mahalo, brah.
Nice post Legion and welcome back!
I'll give this trip a miss thanks but put me down for the next one
You others can fsck off - suddenly my car is empty. Poor Rellie, have your sister contact me, we'll make a long weekend of it.
1', shifty. Eventually I found a killer bank, only took me about 3 hours. Right next to the guys towing in, so I was in constant ski wash. I decided to go and cook lunch. Then the guys on the ski left and the wind swung onshore. Ate a good lunch, then paddled back out to the secret bank. Everyone else was leaving for the day. Kilometres of empty beach. But then eight of my best mates arrived in two cars and paddled out on top of me. My bank was obviously the one for them. So I paddled up the beach but couldn't find another bank. Then I paddled in and went home.
It was fun watching people get bogged. My mighty driving skills prevented that (with road pressures for extra gnar factor), but a couple of people got into significant trouble. There were definitely a few sketchy sections. Past where I parked the track was almost nonexistent. Between me and the access there were some crabwalk sections. Still, a bit of throttle and avoiding obvious pitfalls and I never thought I was going to sink. Dunno what happened to the others.
Company was enjoyable, so this thread delivered. Poor Rellie, tell your sister she's welcome any time.
After I got home I noticed huey waited until I left, then swung it offshore for the rest of the day.
Another 0.5m swell would've been nice. It was smaller than expected.
Blew the tail umpteen times. Landed it nonece (once actually, but then got hung up over the back). Few other turns were OK. I did do a fluid wraparound cuttie, on rail the whole way, vert snap off the rebound. That's all it takes, one good move makes the day.
10 hour day. Overall worth it. Always feels like a holiday to get out of town.
