I started surfing 30 years ago on a Goodtime single fin. Progressed through hybrids, funboards, fish, SUP's, longboards and mid-lengths but predominately been riding a thruster set up.

I am now going to go back what I learnt on - a single fin.

This will be an addition to the quiver as much for relearning how to surf a wave as for nostalgic purposes.

Post your single fin pictures and comments here, particularly if you have made your own. I'm keen to see them all before putting an order in with the local shaper.

Cheers

I have been restoring this one - can not wait to get her wet shortly. I also have a single fin in production as we speak. Will post some pics when I get a chance. She is a 7'2" old school shape but with modern rails and bottom - not too dissimilar to a Mct Tracker.

Hey Bender, the one on the right has got the early leggy attachment through the single fin... how many fins were ripped out before the plug was invented...?

*cough bulls$it cough cough*

As an aside I have some $40,000 dollar Bose speakers if anyone would like them for only $29k. I bought them and the missus found out and we're poor Ethiopian students and our children are Cambodian (long story) and we can't afford to feed our Praying Mantids if we keep them and just quietly the Mantids are our retirement plan so to cut a long story short the Clarion speakers have to go.
You can find me in a white Hiace out the back of the Cap'n Stirling....

Which part of my post do you find dishonest? Is it really that hard to believe? The brand website has those prices on it. Have I offended you?

I'm really just looking for some help If anyone has any guidance please.

Hi everyone,

[Pictures below]
I'm looking for some advice about my single fin surfboard. I'm looking to sell it - I'm not a surfer and I actually won the surfboard in Byron Bay so I don't know how much to ask for it? I know some surfers and would absolutely love to gift it to a friend but I'm a student and could really use the money.

It's a Morning of the Earth - "Simon Jones of Morning of the Earth Surfboards handcrafts and shapes the finest seventies inspired retro surfboards. He has taken single fins and twin fins and enhanced their performance with contemporary design so these surfboards are beautiful, functional and a dream to ride." www.morningoftheearthsurfboards.com/

New boards like this one by Morning of the Earth are over $1000

The maker named it "Black Beauty" and it's 5'10 single fin with pinstripe and shaped detail at the tail end - see pictures.

I won it in a beer raffle and unfortunately she didn't make it home that night in perfect condition :/ so there are some minor surface scratches and a couple of dings. It's never been wet so any cracks have not been in contact with water. I would have had it fixed but I have no idea where to take it. On a side note, Woody's Surf Shack in Byron makes a great house brew.

Hoping someone can give me some guidance as to a fair asking price for this?

Thanks so much!

Thats a bit of an understatement ! What did you do dance on the frikken thing.Simon makes some beautiful boards that deserve better care than that.I think you should give it to a new home for free before you destroy it

Mainly the fact that it's covered in heel dents, which indicates that it has obviously been ridden. If you did win it in a pub raffle, which pub and when?

As to guidance. Try the Buy & Sell forum if you want to flog something.

I'm just about to put my order for a single fin in with my local shaper. Anybody got any recommendations around actual fins or is that another thread? Also do you think it would be worth getting side bite plugs added or should I just keep it as a single?

4-6 weeks and I'll share some pictures

Get a fin box and skip the side bites

Maybe keep it as single. I'm also a fan of a glassed in fin as opposed to a fin box. But doesn't really matter though, it is all personal choice.

Agree. I'm liking mucking around with different fins and what works where and in what. I'm really liking the raked out flexible fins over the dolphin style. I find its gives some real.zing in cut backs and bottom turns
I'm running a 9' in a 7" board. I put a 10' super flexy fin in as.well and went mental. Where as the 7' and 8' dolphins were dogs to me

Toad that is awesome.

How does it ride?

It goes pretty well, it's a different style of riding or should I say "feel" to it. That's kinda why I like the glassed in fin. I get the same feel every time and I can adjust to the way I should ride it. I can get very used to it and ride it better.
