I started surfing 30 years ago on a Goodtime single fin. Progressed through hybrids, funboards, fish, SUP's, longboards and mid-lengths but predominately been riding a thruster set up.
I am now going to go back what I learnt on - a single fin.
This will be an addition to the quiver as much for relearning how to surf a wave as for nostalgic purposes.
Post your single fin pictures and comments here, particularly if you have made your own. I'm keen to see them all before putting an order in with the local shaper.
Cheers
I have been restoring this one - can not wait to get her wet shortly. I also have a single fin in production as we speak. Will post some pics when I get a chance. She is a 7'2" old school shape but with modern rails and bottom - not too dissimilar to a Mct Tracker.
Check out dave parmenter website. Some great reading on their. Or maybe one of the smarts will find it and post a link
I sold this board to a mate 35 years ago and he gave it back to last week, from memory it was a great board. Got stressies and a few dings but better than I expected, fixinf it up now surfing it soon.

As an aside I have some $40,000 dollar Bose speakers if anyone would like them for only $29k. I bought them and the missus found out and we're poor Ethiopian students and our children are Cambodian (long story) and we can't afford to feed our Praying Mantids if we keep them and just quietly the Mantids are our retirement plan so to cut a long story short the Clarion speakers have to go.
You can find me in a white Hiace out the back of the Cap'n Stirling....
Here's the first one I made after seeing the Whayne Lynch movie. He inspired me to make it . My first attempt
The 2 single fins currently in my collection
6,8 Glide about 2 years old
6'0 McCoy Zap about 25 years old
I'm just about to put my order for a single fin in with my local shaper. Anybody got any recommendations around actual fins or is that another thread? Also do you think it would be worth getting side bite plugs added or should I just keep it as a single?
4-6 weeks and I'll share some pictures
Maybe keep it as single. I'm also a fan of a glassed in fin as opposed to a fin box. But doesn't really matter though, it is all personal choice.
It goes pretty well, it's a different style of riding or should I say "feel" to it. That's kinda why I like the glassed in fin. I get the same feel every time and I can adjust to the way I should ride it. I can get very used to it and ride it better.
