Why does the WSL make the women surf down graded waves compared to the men? Same location but they always seem to be sent out in the B grade waves. When the waves aren't great send out the women!
Come on WSL we want to the women perform in maxing waves too.
Watch "Girls can't surf" for your historical answer and yes give the women the same opportunities as the mens draw
I think running 2 comps simultaneously is a stupid idea. Most spots are going to struggle to get 3/4 good quality conditions in 10 or so days let alone try to get 5 or 6. The mid year cutoff is also pretty stupid, even Medina has had a few years with bad starts to the year. Put's a lot of pressure on the rookies to who generally take a few comps to settle in.
I saw a good response somewhere..Why don't they run men's and women's as concurrent heats as they do for some comps, like in Hawaii and as they did in Portugal ... both in the water at the same time 40min heats .. Same waves
Sounds good, and for priority just overlap them same way as they do the guys heats 2 so that each heat gets their 2nd half with full priority?
I have to say, it is sick seeing guys like griffin and Igarashi finally hitting their straps. Look dangerous nearly every time they surf now. In the womens tati seems to score well, but stone me if I wouldn't prefer to watch Steph and Carissa any day. And when is bronte going to catch a break with a heat in solid powerful waves?! So frustrating knowing what she is capable of. Hopefully she destroys them all in pumping g land and chopes
They should run them all together
do away with all genders
equal pay equal risk
20-25 foot cloud break and just send them all out as equals.
10 person heats to really crank up the jostling
game in solid waves
Top 30 men Top 30 women
5 invites of each gender
7 heats of 10 people each heat 2 hours
top three waves
No jet skis
Winner takes all
3 comps a year
cloudbreak ( maxing )
pipeline ( maxing )
Shipstern bluff ( maxing )
A right an a frame and a left
fair and square
Winner takes all
That's the sort of surfing comp I want to see
And yes send the women out in a grade conditions, pipeline 12-15 foot great run the comp
one in all in
I'm surprised the WSL is still going. It has no real relevance for the average surfer.
i do agree it would be good to change the format
