A small spray bottle (spectacle lens cleaner size 50ml etc) and mix 50 50 water and peroxide
take that with you in the boat when you surf and if you happen to cut yourself if you can spray it
within the first hour of the cut or sooner..apply betadine liberally after but only once as betadine not
knocks out the bad bacteria it knocks out the good stuff as well .....
works for me !
a tube of cheap superglue can be handy as well to seal a small incision
no point paying for the medical stuff ...
anything bigger that requires stitching and you are generally out for a good few days at the very least .
if not the rest of the trip ....

Good advice PH.

Once it starts to go bad (like they always do ) the best advice I ever got was to get an antibiotic pill - crush it - drop a drip of water on it and mix into a paste. Rub it straight into the wound and then cover during the day. Wash and repeat 2-3 times a day. Over-night clean the wound before bed and leave it to get some air over night (under a mosi net if possible). Make sure you wash and thoroughly clean it after every surf and then cover with the paste etc and you will be good to go. Once you get back to Aust it will heal fast

Peroxide works the best I find - kills when you put it on though

Lime , then aloe. Great results guaranteed
Lime first, that will sting, the aloe when that dries will smooth it a little. Never fails.

oh, and the superglue, don't forget the superglue

Problem I find is you have to keep surfing so the wound never dries then the volcano starts to form none of the above will stop that..............never found an answer except Mercurochrome..............used it a lot at the Bluff in the early 80's worked a treat only problem is .........mercury twich twich side effects........

Bactroban on prescription. Go to a shopping centre with a few chemists and you can negotiate a bit

depending where you are going, malaria wise, vibramycin a good covering antibiotic

works well for skin infections, particularlyfor the tropical water bug, but also protects from malaria

your doc could advise

Antibiotics from the doc

Lime as soon as you get out of the water
Betadine once your dry
Bapanthen the next day

...the bapanthen is antispetic cream which has a an oily base so its stops alot of **** from getting in and it helps with chafe!!

If your on a surf trip you basically have to accept they will ulcerate you just have to stop them getting infected

Hydrogen peroxide is good but it can make any ulcers bigger

Super glue is great

Yep this stuff is the shizz but I usually get it in Indo not sure if you can get in in Oz or online.
I hate to think what might be in it but it dries out and seals the reef tatts.
I don't leave home without it.

^^ BEST but if infection ,, ie ULCA, PUS set in, dont rely on this alone go your ABTCS and the TTYG as this wont deal with infection that has advanced on its own in my experience
