I'm heading over to Perth for work and wouldn't mind getting a surf in while I'm there. I'm staying in Osborne Park so I'm guessing the closest place to get a wave would be Scarborough Beach? (I've never been to Perth before and won't have a car)

As I'm only there for the night I can't be arsed to lug my own board over - are there any local shops where I could hire/demo a board? Boardies or Wettie?

Thanks in advance guys

You'll probably catch more waves on a sight seeing bus than at scarborough mate Banks are straight and swell is normally minimum unless your arrival brings a big storm. Only place with some decent shape would be Trigg Point but that is packed out more than the Royal Show. Still worth a punt though. You're going to need your most fattest biggest board that will let you pull into a curl before it closes out and dumps you. Saying that the beachies are lovely on a light offshore day and the water is clear as! No wetties needed just yet. I think Ross at Soul boardstore hires out boards - he's on here somewhere too.

At least surfing in Perth will make you realise how good you have it at home. Pack a pair of flippers instead, if there happens to be some swell (unlikely) you can at least go for a bodybash at City groyne.

Yes, we have hire boards and are only 100 metres or so from the clean head high tubes of Scarborough Beach.
Over winter particularly it can be real fun.

If you're in the right place at the right time and crouch down low enough, anything's possible.

Yeah we haven't had a real winter now for at least 20 years. Triggs point on a light north western 30 years ago on a decent winter swell wasn't to bad and when it maxed out used to head to what's the wave left side of Cot?

Hang in there MP,, just hope for a decent swell, and if you ask offline at the time , you mind find one out of town or offshore a bit.
