I have a board with a big single concave I had made as like a hybrid fun board, it does exactly what I intend it to do which is catch heaps of waves but...... I'm finding myself wanting a little more maneuverability, I was thinking of getting a good fin set for it to maybe help loosen it up a bit. It's a Thruster setup with fcs plugs, if anyone has any recommendations on a good fin setup to pair with a single concave bottom, would be awesome.

Mark Richards fcs does thruster set two semi keels and a little flyer for the middle. Allows for a bit of slide good for turns. Don't know exact fin number

And that will.go.good on a deep.single board? Or.just a fin setup.you like, read about or.used on one?

They go sick on a single concave ( up to head height) I got a set from a mate for my birthday a few years back. The little flyer fin loosens the tail up. The two side fins give a bit of drive down the line. I used them for about a year when I lost one of the side fins. I don't know the actual fin set number/make but it made a pretty ordinary board come alive

Mr- tfx I think but you need the stabilizer fin too, there not full keels but have more than standard thruster

I've also done the twin with trailer setup. It works well. I had it on a wide tailed board with single concave. Super loose and slippery but also fast and drivey when you hook up the side fins. I wouldn't say it's

because I feel a lot of that comes from the board but it certainly can loosen up the tail, lots.

Yeah had a look at the mr tfx set looks pretty cool I might give it a go, do you know if anybody stocks these in Perth or easier to order them online. Looks like a fin set I could play around with in a fee of my other boards so win win

Loose and slippery, but also drivey legion? There are two opposites that will never be friends...it will be luck only if your waiting for loose and slippery to hook in for drive. Otherwise your nursing it. My fat arse board is like that once it hits a certain size.

Yeah, exactly - hook up a side fin and it would drive with speed and control but go to change rails and the small trailer fin and fat arse tail width between the two widely spaced sides would mean it could slip until the new side bit. Safe to stay on one rail and drive. Not safe to swap rail to rail.

You're right that the board as a whole isn't drivey like a 7'0" pintail with a tight cluster and heaps of rail, but you can ride off of one bigger side fin.

Hope that makes sense. It's kind of fun, like a skatey with slippery wheels. Worth trying just for fun.

I get what your trying to.say...but in order to get that drive, hook in one fin. Well there is more chance for the loose and slippery to screw you, unless your experienced and.want that. Otherwise your pretty stuffed and have to nurse it.

What that board is good for, is racing down the line on one rail and then busting the tail loose, changing rail. Beachbreaks, not bowly waves. It doesn't like spending time tight in the pocket.

Yeah, it was intentional and I swapped back to a regular back fin eventually which made it less slippery but also noticeably slower. I think the small one was 80mm high?

In hollow waves yep, it needs nursing compared to a shortboard (as per my comments in bjshack's thread) but still achievable, with occasional monumental failures.

Lol at the red thumb.

Be careful if you plan to use the MR's in fcs x2 plugs as it may crack them or even rip the plugs out. I even cracked some fusions with them recently in 1ft dribble.

Maurice Cole likes the C drive fins. I have 2 sets and the only board i liked them in was a copy of a Lost rocket which had a pretty deep single concave.

Interesting comments, this has turned into a good little thread, gave you a few green thumbs chrispy, what's with the reds ?, I'm not to sure if I like the sound of a skate board with wet wheels lol, but I guess I'm won't be using this board in waves with any consequence, is better suited to fat wally slower waves so will be good to play around anyway. Next time I down your way Dave ill drop in.

These are the same, sans stabiliser. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/T-REX-TWIN-FIN-SET-Twin-Tab-FCS-Compatible-/281503408723?

As said above, be very careful putting these in FCS plugs. I've destroyed three fins/sets/plugs using these really laying into bottom turns. Not hitting bottom either, just laying into turns. Those placcy things that Dave is offering may actually not be too bad an option, the flex might save your plugs.
