After positive experience with faster higher aspect foils - got F4 90 cm / 874 cm2, and looking at Sabfoil W1000 / 987 cm2 - I am looking for hints to sails that could match. Initially, I am not thinking of "large and heavy cambered racing sails". I was hoping for something lighter and less "demanding". In the sizes most relevant, I currently got Ezzy Cheetah 6.5, Severne Turbo 7.5 and Ezzy Cheetah 8.5. I currently weigh in at 72 kg without wetsuit. This is for "comfortable fast cruising" in flat or choppy waters, no jumping, no quick/narrow turns, not competing, not waves. I am chasing low wind (6kt avg wind with maybe some puffs) with these foils, but might be willing to accept 8 kt as lower end. My experience with the F4 was with the 6.5 sail, but I want to take off earlier.

I have found used Skyscape 7.0 (23-mod without cambers) - maybe not much better than the 6.5 - and also some Severne cambered freeride foil sails around these sizes. Can I do this with less than 8m? And btw... I would also accept replies like "tune the sailor, not the sails" ;-).

What are your experiences/recommendations?

Severne foil glide 2/3 cam freeride foil sail, pick your size.

Plenty of get up and go for low end, its light, but with cambers so locked in shape for lightwind speedy cruising. If you're chasing low low end then go for bigger size, but they're pretty grunty.

comparatively, they feel like a severne turbo, but tight leeched, so plenty of power there to pump onto the foil.

Yup, seconding foil glides.

They are a lot lighter than the cheetahs with much better feel on the foil. Get an adjustable outhaul and extend the range. My 7.0 foil glide is my most used sail right now, but I have the 6 and 8 as well. You can also get another few kts of wind range on the high end by dropping to the lower clew hole.

The 6 7 and 8 rig on the same 460 rdm mast, and I use an ezzy hookipa with no issues. The cams are easier to pop on than for the 9.0 hyperglide. Compared to that, the sails are much less demanding and relaxing compared to the much deeper draft hyperglide.

How much wind do you need to get up on the foil with the 7.0? (and on which foil)?
Same for the 8.0?
How does the 8.0 handle gusts and wind increase?

I am 210lbs/95kg currently. I will use the 7.0 on the PTM926 and freestyle 115 at 10-12kts as a minimum (1250cm ish class of foil).
I'll use it in similar low end winds on the iqfoil 900/115+/95cm board setup, but maybe a little bit more for easier takeoff.
If the wind is more I will downsize sail (freestyle kit) or downsize foil (to 550, 650, or 725 starboard front wing). It gets to be a bit overwhelming closer to 20kts when I want to use the lower clew hole or downsize the rig.

I bought it used from someone in the 60-65kg class that used it as his largest sail with smaller race foils.

The 8.0 I have used a lot less, can't say as I found that on the light end I'd rather have the 9.0 and the 8.0 is a little easier in higher wind than the 9.0. It's just softer and less stressful to ride if I'm not feeling up to the 9.0 or pushing hard on the top end speed (not that I'm fast, I'm not).
