Hi guys
I opened a new conversation with an more obvious title :-) ..... (a weird idea is maybe not the optimal title)
Here the first footage, see Youtube link below.
Below pics show the camera setup I used.
I did record with an 360cam - but used only one side of the lens, the other had the cover on to not scratch the lens touching the board.
There was barely wind - so I was pumping the hell out of that sail but got up just a littlebit. Sorry for that.
I will make another attempt and mount the camera so it can actually record 360. I will post soon.
The footage is 8min - stay on it - see how the weeds stick and do not let go of the wing, very interesting.
And actually, I believe that mount I use with that special rope is perfect will will hold on to very strong forces - I believe there is very little chances of a fail. However, you can see the Chinook line as safety, .... in case .... :-)
Here the Youtube link:
Not if the camera is underwater - it looses Wifi and GPS connection.
of course duh!
Super nice. It looks like you are getting close to planing speed prior to the board coming up on the foil. that's why I ask. Are you vigorusly pumping the sail and foil to get up onto the foil early or are you waiting to build boardspeed and then having the foil lift gradually?

During this recording was barely wind - so pumping the hell out of it :-) But hey, I probably pump wrong .... already said, just foiling since few weeks. Sure there is space for improvement ;-)
Very cool. Next how about some "big air"? A loop?? or a Nose first crash
I had few loop attempts ... not planned ones though :-)
much more interesting angle with the second video.
now you need a mount that wraps the mast for safety and to look tidier !
nice work !

Cool pretty stable flights for two week in.
I really like to bounce the board. Usually first couple of stomps to cork it out of the water then it hits the water again for a big bounce and it usually stays on the foil after that. YMMV
Hey door, cool, thanks - I did bounce a few times but never thought of it as something I could use to get going, will try !

Hi Sean, not sure what you mean.....
The setup is super stiff - no wiggling, no moving of the camera. All wiggle you see is the 360 software that makes it appear like.
Also, if you look close, you will see that there is a steel rope which secures the cam!
I really do not believe it is necessary (as long the red rope is in perfect condition) - the red rope is super strong and I am pretty much convinced the wrap and rope tightening will hold on. But for any case the red rope would be damaged, you have an safety leash.
But let me know if I did misunderstand - always happy for feedback to improve.
Thanks
g'day, what I mean is I think a specific mount would look nicer and probably be easier to fit, and sell more !
the set up you use, though seeming very solid, looks very messy/untidy.
Please take this as a positive critic ! If I was to buy one of your mounts I'd like it to look more "professionnal", some sort of clip on with a tightening device. (and a thin security leash, made of kite string/cord maybe ?)
keep up the good work !

I am not sure many people would buy a camera mount that they can only use on The foil mast. After all, how many videos would you make like that? Don't get me wrong, the video looks very cool but I would only une a coupe of seconds of that footage to add to a longer videos. And I would not use that footage on all the videos I make. In sum, I don't think people would spend 40 dollars for something they will use very little.l when they can use that mount in many other positions as well.
I really like the mount and it's simplicity; it looks pretty cool too.
Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. Seems I am not doing a good explanation job.
the BoomiX actually is a multi-versatile mount that you can use everywhere. I designed it for Windsurfers, but kept in mind other applications. The ark is perfectly shaped for a boom ?? but with the bungee cord it goes everywhere.
There are different adapters - such as the foil mast adapter (cost 14.- bucks) which lets you mount the boomix (49.- bucks) on a foil mast.
If you have time and interest, have a closer look and you see that this mount is absolutely (in my opinion) great for us windsurfers - it goes on the boom, Windsurfing mast, ..., and with adapters to many other places.
and I will be coming up with different adapters soon. However, also without adapters, that thing can be mounted to many many places - please have a closer look and let me know if you like it better with above explanation.
You know - the design goals where:
1. For Windsurfers - no compromise!
2. Must stay put whatever you throw at it!
3. Simple.
4. Sustainable, no China and - eco.
I am positive that I've reached my goals.
It is a CNC cut complex part - not easy to manufacture. Many steps and tools involved to make it. And no plastics.
My goal to make it nearly "un-loose-able", and simple!, makes the part different than what you can buy today on the market.
Also, this part is nearly unbreakable ... and goes away from the throw away society. I will never make any parts out of cast/extruded plastics ... I know, I still need that bungee cord - but its real good quality and will last. And the plastic I use for the adapters are all biodegradable. .... but do not worry. It will take a while till they degrade ??
Thats sure not perfect, I know, but I believe in it.
And to complete this ... The boomix is nearly unloosable, but designet to go many places. ....
The Sliver and Burtle on the other hand - they are engineered with no compromise for Windsurfers , check my homepage carvstar.com,,,, ..... but they also have a very limited customer base as its for Windsurfing only mostly. The Burtle may go on a stick or so, but truly is made for a boom.
Check this out - wait for it - super cool :-)
Bravo Carvstar,
Super cool video and well done - you achieved your ultimate goal !
